I just felt like I needed to ask this question and see what everyone else thought...
... and I simply CANNOT be the only one thinking about this but does anyone else think that Vodacom and/or MTN should move into the pay-TV market since they are (I'm guessing) the next biggest SA media (?) companies behind Naspers? Correct me if I'm wrong but in the US, I know (I think) Verizon was a cellular provider but has expanded to offering cable television.

Is Vodacom and MTN missing out on a market that desperately requires some big money industry players?

Oh please no! Not until they stop screwing customers with OOB rates. And those terms and conditions will be a nightmare to understand

Vodafone is in negotiations with Netflix, which may indicate that they are planning to offer the service to their customers. This may well mean that Vodacom will piggyback on this deal.

One would assume zero-rated traffic for this service, but this may be easier said than done on a mobile network.

This is really simple, but problem is people just won't be able to disengage from their tv. So we are fscked as they must bow to their tv debauchery.

However all that is needed to do is everyone to start canceling their dstv until napsers stops being a dick.

Wow...

Naspers owes a fair chunk of their "bigness" to Tencent. If Tencent were to falter, I am willing wager that so too would Naspers. Watch their share price. It fluctuates wildly on the perceived fortunes of Tencent.

Why say this? I am saying that Vodacom and MTN are a little stronger than suggested.
