Hi All,

So there are only 2 of us living in a house, and we have DSTV Premuim package, and to be quite frank, we only REALLY watch BBC, ther movie channels etc are shoddy and out of the 400 channels available to me i watch about 8.
We only keep premium because we do like to record. But this month its almost R800!
Any other sereis etc we watch online, we hook the laptop up with an HDMI cable and just stream our favorite shows! Any time at the cost of the uncapped internet.
So the point of this is, how many of you have cancelled your DSTV and just watch online, and do you suggest doing it?

I mean R728.30pm (approximation) is over R9000 a year, I could have frequent flights up tp JHB for that much.

Oppinions?

Im cancelling today, its getting ridiculous, and we watch downloaded stuff mostly anyway

Last time we had a poll it was almost 300 people on this forum that's already done that.

Check my sig for more info ;)

I am also downgrading to just the SABC channels on Friday. DSTV is such a huge waste of money. With Put.io, Unotelly, Netflix and Hulu do you really need anything else?

If you can afford it, why not?
If you can't, use an alternative.

/queue DSTV hating rants

I cancelled 3 years ago. I moved house and it was going to be a mission to get set up again. So I just left it off, that was before all the streaming options. I only miss the sport.

I would actually get it set up again... if they had more options. I want to choose my own channels and pay per view sport. I would probably even use their rental service.

Makes no sense to pay R800 PM when I can go an entire week without TV when life gets hectic.

i cancelled 2 years back and got uncapped, havent looked back.

i found a site that streams live sporting events too so i dont miss out on anything.

uncapped > dstv imho

DSTV is silly if you don't watch sport and don't have kids.

For that price you can buy a season of whatever you want to watch on bluray each month.

It's like smoking - the hardest part of quitting DSTV is the first 2 weeks. Thereafter, it gets easier.

Mind you, getting a bill for R960 in December made the cut pretty easy.
