Dstv culling more channels

Presume MultiChoice is looking to do something similar in South Africa but with them having their own feed from ours they are probably trying to figure out the structure we do hold the most sports compared to them.

They usually experiment here first, but I suppose that's possible.

Meanwhile, those with bigger package streaming will now find both 207 SS Variety 2 and 207 (should be 227) SS Africa (1) - but I'm sure it will turn out to be a mistake and they'll eventually remove that.

Correction - it's actually 209 SS Variety 4 (which is missing). They're just accidentally calling it SS Africa, which has different content.

It looks like MultiChoice might be doing something with M-Net and SuperSport in November

Fairly sure not now, let's look at some other recent changes;

A few weeks ago we got 125 TLC Africa
Today they added 315 Disney Africa

(Note that they're making their presence more and more visible to Saffers these days, so trying to now be more transparent?)

From what I've seen in the past, channels that get an "African" ROA counterpart are either available cheaper to them for ROA (possibly attracting less interest there?) and / or they believe there's a better chance of gaining or keeping customers in ROA specifically by including these - believed as they usually offer them on cheaper packages compared to SA.

So there seems to be an accelerated move to separate ROA and SA development directions.
In the case of the SuperSport channels, I've never seen such a stark difference as now. What's "new" is actually an effort to make regular more African soccer etc. content. As usual the last few years, there's a clear importance put on Nigeria, but I see a focused Zambia interest as well.
None of this would likely suit the SA market, certainly hasn't been considered before. In fact, two of these replacement channels are named SS Africa and SS Africa 2, and a 3rd one is called WWE (wrestling) Africa...

Well not to mention the differences in what can and cannot be broadcast there. ROA may or may not allow certain scenes, may or may not allow certain words. Plus the translations for the different regions

Very true. Though if so then more about consideration than rules I would think, as those channels had been shared with ROA for a long time.
Perhaps a snowflake development

As for the changes orbiting M-NET - that 101 is a prize channel possession of theirs, can't see them altering anything drastic. Not here anyway, but there are other M-Net versions; M-Net Terrestrial, M-Net....... Africa (of course) , M-Net East & M-Net West that I know of (last two are on the other satellite group further north).

The French will be told they can't own KykNet but guess what they're producing content in Namibia so technically they can.

It appears now that WildEarth will be relaunching back to DStv

Now it appears MultiChoice may be looking to reinstate WildEarth as several consumers by had already spotted the feed for the channel on our decoders.

That's not nearly enough info to then presume WildEarth appears to be coming back, if anything from what I've seen on its information-plate it looks like it instead could be a similar replacement.
And since when does Multichoice every bring any old and cancelled channels back anyway?

It is possible, but highly unlikely.
Not going to debate it, but unfortunately feel I can't take your posts (or website) in too-serious a light as you currently appear to choose to exaggerate, just like most people in the press sadly.

It's definitely WildEarth same schedule as usual and MultiChoice has brought back channels before like Euronews for starters and also Bloomberg.

@Insidus

Euronews disappeared for years and had first been restructured, Bloomberg happened over 10 years ago and that merging (not cancellation) just lasted weeks.

BTW, there's still the recent "ending on 30 April" sign re DStv presence on their home page: https://wildearth.tv

However, their website does mention "SafariLIVE", same as what's on the test iPlate, so looks like you got lucky this time...

They do have an announcement coming soon must be about this

Nothing seen.

Another return, looks like that KykNet holiday channel is getting ready for December again. For 149 or 150 if I remember right?
(test channel "F165")

Got access to the SA Compact package yesterday - channel 210 SS Action was not made available to the package, sat. feed and streaming both checked.

So the ROA plans for SS have indeed taken a different direction from SA.
Most of their SS channels remain the same as ours though. Biggest reason appears to be deeper local interest in their soccer tournaments.

But as Multichoice & Multichoice Africa continue to scramble in all directions under pressure, who knows what's next.

I doubt even Multichoice knows - beginning to get the idea, they have a lot of headless chickens flip-flopping running the show there.

Did you seriously think DStv would let you down  :p

MultiChoice-owned DStv is permanently adding kids’ pay-TV channels Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. to the DStv Compact package, TV with Thinus reports.

Content is structured differently in each market South Africa has more sporting events compared to neighbouring countries.
