Well i do not think they care what everyone thinks. It is all money that is it. I want to see all the HD Channels that they are going to give us?

Also where is the F1 in HD? they claim that they listen to everyone and what everyone wants but i have to differ.

All these FREE Services i want to see a list of them and how to get them......

Typical mumbo jumbo explanation for this extortion

In laymans terms:
-----------------

1- Due to an increase in the cost of doing business :: For maintaining high profit margins.

2- To continue to provide the same quality of service into the future :: Improvements and better content/features not to be expected!

3- Introduced a new lower-price bouquet, DStv Lite :: No other reason but to counter TopTV.

4- Both of which are offered free of charge to DStv Premium subscribers :: Forced to be a premium subsriber to make use of these "free" benefits of which you still have to pay extra for needed features like PVR ect.

5- We will continue to look for opportunities to add more value :: Find ways to charge subscribers extra and add to Multichoice's profit margins!

6- Multichoice incurs increasing costs regardless of whether there is direct competition or not :: There is NO direct competition.

Multichoice reeeeeally cares what its customers think

I sound like a spindoctor because I'm being realistic about how it will affect MultiChoice? How do you get that?
This is what I initially said about the increase:

"95% of the DSTV subscribers is just gonna get some more vaseline handy and bend over some more until next year's increase ( rinse and repeat ). DSTV knows this full well and the 5% that cancels won't mean a thing to them because the 95% that pays R30 more will fully negate the loss and still leave them with crazy profits."

Care to argue that point?

+1

And they "exclusively" hog any live sport events with their "only on Supersport" to prevent all the sheep/addicts from jumping ship

You going to set one up Gary?

I haven't been a DSTV subscriber for about 5 years now. I canceled it when I got the ADSL Internet. I really can't ever see myself going back, so in all honesty the cause is not mine to fight.
I have no use for satellite TV anymore, in my opinion it is a dying technology. And the holding company NASPERS and Media24 know me all too well from past campaigns against them so I strongly suggest that it should be a current subscriber who is going to put his money where his mouth is and cancel his DSTV and urge others to do so at the same time.
But whether you do or not is not really going to affect me, I would just love to see people sticking it to the big man!
I've already cast my vote. I canceled when DSTV was still in the R300's. I thought R400 plus was an utter disgrace. Look where it is now.

Good Bye DSTV:sick:
Hello faster uncapped & TopTV:love:

Thank You DSTV for making this decision so incredibly easy.:D

Lol!

“This [price increase] is to enable us to continue to provide the same quality of service into the future."

So you're paying more for the same thing?

Thats a joke right?

I am again reevaluating a move to TopTv, would go for the R229 or so option if I did so. I do watch the sport, but not so much that I couldn't live without it, or watch it at the local, if they haven't also cancelled.

They cancel half-decent channels, and add local rubbish, which should be cheaper, but the increase their prices, what am I missing?.

B

Another two buddies will cancel tomorrow as well. Hey guys, doesn't matter if it is 1% or 5% at least it is a percentage. As I said - Fnck DSTV

Yea good bye DSTV

As a trial run I have had the decoders disconnected for the past month to see if it made a difference.
It doesn't.

Gary, if possible, can we set up some sort of standrad reply to DStv on a specific email address? My concern is that the cancellations and complaints will disappear into the void, and no-one of any consequence will know what we have done, and why. I am downgrading to the 'lite' version, as I am sick to death of the constant repeats, three years down the line. I won't pay money for rubbish. But my concern is always that allthese complaints, never reach who they SHOULD reach at MonoChoice, so that the ones who actually CAN make a change, understanbd how badly we know they are running things.

And a tip for those who might still want a clear signal for SABC or Mum/wify still wants something else other than free-to-air, there's easyview for R210/year or R20 a month, and you still get channels 112, 200, 341 & 343 ...

The headline should read ¨Monochoice tries to spin doctor its engorged pricing¨.

Good riddance to bad rubbish you useless bunch of ticks and fleas at Monochoice.

Well i cancled my account last year April and with the saving of R600 per month i could compliment my internet with uncapped. So up your naught MultiCrooks.

PS. They do not allow any negative posts on theri forums, all those posts get removed and you as a forum member gets a temp ban and warned, to me that smell more like a dicktatorship.
Oh yeah and my family time in my home has become more pleasant, no more leaving my child sitting infront of the telly in a veggie state. So stay tuned to DSTV and become the veggie or nuke it and become a more proactive family.

DSTV laughs at you. Now, laugh at them. After ditching, as mentioned in the other thread, I continued viewing my serials online. Now, I am a season ahead, don't wait for DSTV to get the latest and have not seen an advert in months. Hell, I do not know what adverts look like anymore. Last time I saw one of those, a dog was selling Toyotas. The only drawback is rugby, which I have been enjoying at the locals and relatives houses.

The reason I dumped them of course was not the R530 increase (at the time). It was the place I moved to that wanted another R75 on top of that per cable "rental" per month for the MUDS. When DSTV broke the R600 barrier, I broke the piggy bank.

So they increased my subscription and in turn gave me some "free" services, which I don't use. They gave me HD channels which I can't watch unless I'm willing to fork out thousands of Rands for an HD decoder and twin LNB. They gave me Sony Max even though they took Animax away. The only difference between Sony Max and Animax is that Sony Max repeats the same crap that Animax did, BUT since it's a new channel, they start everything with season 1 again.

I would think that you increase prices to keep your business afloat or to expand your business or improve your product. But since Multichoice is already making a HUGE profit, why the increase each year then?

What I think is that Multichoice should design a Bouqeut that taylors for the individuel, like for instance pay a set ammount and the you can choose lets say 10 channels and multichoice gives you some other channels that no-one wathces anyways........

Or maybe they should do like hotels do. You pay for what you want to watch.

DSTV will NEVER cater for your custom needs. It would not make any financial sense to them.

Cancel , try Top TV. I f they no good, voice opinion. Why the heck are we bending over – again and again and again. Please guys. We have a voice – le’ts use it.

I would just drop them an e-mail pointing them to this thread! :D

I am really, really hoping that this latest increase pushes them over the edge... they have played the "provoke the customer" game for too long and gotten away with it.
I would like to see hundreds of thousands of people cancel now.
