DSTV Extra

My wife received an SMS about a new DSTV Package called Extra, Unless I live under a rock, i don't recall seeing any advertising or anything like it.
Any way has about 15 odd channels more then Compact at abut R105 more.

Suffice it to say wife saw it has E! so nagged me to get it she pointed out history channel for me :D

Thanks for the heads-up. I have also not seen anything about DStv Extra. Not a bad package, but no Supersport 1...

And you didn't tell us ,sheesh and here i thought we was friends

I'm enjoying it. Watching Eddie Izzard on Comedy Central. I upgraded from Compact so now I can get my classic sitcoms and stand-up on CC, British comedy and drama on BbcE, my celeb news and The Soup on E!Entertainment, go behind the scenes with my favourite athletes on Trace Sports, improve my Afrikaans with Kyknet, dust up my detective skills with C&I, find new destinations to visit with the Travel Channel, dumb down with Fox, see the stars of tomorrow on Nickolodeon, catch up on the past with the History Channel and more news on Sky for an extra R100 odd. Pretty good deal over all.

Upgraded from compact now, as well, hardly got off the phone and see my wife was busy setting series based recordings for Keeping up with the kardashians

You can tell you haven't had the History Channel for a while if you think it has any programmes about history on it :)

Decent line up of channels though, although I do think Multichoice are missing a trick by not offering Mnet on a cheaper package.

I'm very happy with this. Only thing missing on this package are the movie and other sports channels. But since I only watch BluRay rips and soccer, it doesn't affect me. Mnet isn't really a loss either. What do you watch there? Carte Blanche? You can watch that on YouTube.

I was thinking more from a sport angle. I don't know if they still do (because I tune to the appropriate SS channel) but they used to show the main sporting events like the Bok games, F1 and the big English football games on the one channel. So a selection of the big sports happenings for those who don't live on the sports channels but want the important events.

You're thinking of CSN. I don't think Mnet show sports anymore.

Fair enough. The old Mnet box used to be quite decent for what it was. But I suppose it's intentional that it's not on offer now like it used to be to draw folk to the premium package.

This package has almost the channels I watch, I would pay an extra R50 or so PM for SS1 though.

And they still don't have selective channels.
