Hi everyone
Could someone please confirm what the above setup is supposed to cost?
I was under the impression that it would be the base subscription + R65 access fee, But I was told that its actually base +R65 for PVR + R65 for Xtra View. Is this correct?

You pay the base sub + R65 that is it.

so you going with premium then? What is your grand total gonna be?

Um I always had Xtra View ie. 590 + 65. Then had a PVR installed on the 27 March, and then got a bill for R728.55 on the 2 April.
This is after the call center agent told me that I'll be paying some form of prorata inconjuction with the base + R65 + R65.
What the hell man? I thought nothing would change i.e. 655 per month or am I missing something?

What does XtraView cost?
The initial set-up cost includes the cost of the decoders (unless you already have one or both) and a fully XtraView compliant installation.

Monthly cost: an additional R65 access fee. If you have a PVR in your XtraView combo and are already using PVR functionality, there will be no additional monthly cost.

you have been ripped off

considering they pull in R972m a month, well... now you know why lol

Yep only 1 x 65 rand charge for PVR functionality and Xtraview. You getting screwed, contact multichoice and explain the situation to them.

They always screw up that initial bill and then you have to phone them and demand a refund. Otherwise they'll continue to screw if you don't query. When I installed xtraview I specifically told them there should be no extra R65 but they still managed to charge me an extra 65. So I phone and got refunded.

I never had that issue, I've had PVR for years, recently put in Xtraview all the consultant said is let me know the second both decoders are talking to each other and bam, no extra charges.

No, PVR function attracts R65, but it also means you can hook up xtraview for no other additional charge. If you already had PVR, you can activate xtraview for "free". But MC have a nasty habit of forgetting this and slapping on an extra R65 for xtraview when they shouldn't

The HD PVR is very nice and when connected in HDMI the other channels look better too. If you can afford it, it is nice.

My bonus that I love with the PVR is the Dstv On Demand. where the main series programs off of Mnet and some from other channels are put on for the week for you to watch whenever (plus all the sport highlights). and the bonus NO ADVERTS!!!!!!

I hardly watch anything in real time anymore (except my Arsenal games and some movies)
