It seems like lots of local content is already produced in widescreen format - I wonder if it is 480p? I would think that upscaling this to 720p may actually look better than the current SD channels?
480p is extended def and is for ntsc regions

yes there are sd cams that shoot in sd progressively like the panasonic aj-sdx 900
but most things are probably produced in hd these days

True... so used to reading/talking a out 480p and 720p....
Either way, I wonder if local sport and shows are filmed at in progressive scan or not? If they are, I think the content will work well upscaled to HD.
