DStv is cutting three channels

The difference is that it's actually the biggest "community". And it's actually the other way around. Kyknet is on both Compact+ and premium. It's those of us who mainly want that that's subsidising the premium bouquets. Without it premium would cost more which is fine by me.

So all the Afrikaans people are on Compact+, and doing without their rugby?

Yeah, pull the other one.

And I don't think you understand what subsidising is. Those of us who have no interest in Afrikaans content, are paying to produce that content - irrespective if we're on Premium, Compact+ or whatever.

Take it to its own bouquet and pay for it yourselves. The price of every bouquet that it was on will drop...

No you're not. Since it's only on Compact + and premium we have no option but to take those expensive bouquets if we want it. So we are the ones forced to pay for and subsidise content we do not want. Just because Afrikaans which you don't want is included on premium doesn't mean you are paying for it.

You're also misinformed about what Afrikaners are. The largest group of Afrikaners are not white rugby loving fans.
 
This may be the news which will push me over the edge to cancelling DSTV.
I've seen their "new, innovative" channels and they're pure rubbish. Niche channels at best.
I quite liked the History Channel on occaision. Mountain Men. Silly UFO programs. Even sillier Bigfoot programs. Always something to chuckle at.

Maybe History is too informative, entertaining and value for money (tongue in cheek)

The History channel is one of the reasons why I have DSTV.

For every one good channel DSTV takes away and puts 3 rubbish ones in its place - why has TCM also been sacrificed.

Oh this is a slow but steady death of DSTV.
 
Dstv should create new bouquets - I say this as there are people that think they are subsidizing local creators of Afrikaans content.

The country is already racially divided due to the political climate. So Dstv , bring it on. Create a Mzansi bouquet with Supersport 3,4 and all the Mzansi content plus whatever else - but less channels than the Compact bouquet that already caters for this. Then give us Afrikaans speaking community a KykNet bouquet with Supersport 1,2 and all the Afrikaans content plus whatever extra channels. The Premium bouquet can still be available.

It is BS that there is a lower tier bouquet that offers two Supersport channels for soccer , while Supersport 1&2 are only available on the Premium bouquet.

Yeah this one doesn't make sense to me at all. They rebranded TCM to TNT to give us a more modern movie channel, as if we don't have enough modern movie channels already. TNT shows all the movies you can watch on the mnet movie channels.

At least we still have Sundance for classic movies but TCM was better.

They didn't. TCM was rebranded as TNT Africa by Turner. The problem is that we get the African version which is aligned to the same demographic as the regular Mnet channels. They should give us a generic channel so they can show their "newer" content but still all of the old content they showed.

You know u don't need Dstv to watch those South Indian channels, my mom cancelled Dstv last year, and now she watches them on YouTube free of charge, all u pay for is data

Could we get them to instead of killing Indian channels just focus on killing Indians? Whom I kidding if I cannot eat their food I would probably kill myself.
 
Most of that international stuff has alternatives. It's the locally produced content and sport which usually doesn't.
 
Bad idea there are plenty poor people can afford this. Old people dont like changes in his life i think you loose plenty people. Old people look from 6 to 9 and sleep then he dosnt look al this new programs and he love Binneland Getroud met rugby and Suidooster.
If think it is a bad idee this mean you loose dstv cust and people losse jobs at dstv and this people play in sopies. WDF.
