DStv Streama set-top box launched

MultiChoice has launched a DStv Streama set-top box which allows subscribers to view DStv content and shows from other streaming services without a satellite dish.

The DStv Streama device connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable and connects to your TV through HDMI.

If this does not run on vanilla Android TV and rather on some locked down launcher with limitations then why waste your time with a locked down system where you will have no access to Play Store or possibly even no sideloading of apks?

I think that's their plan ultimately. Just don't get your hopes up that the price would be even remotely reasonable.

Maybe those that got burnt with the Roku episode, will not fall for this kind of thing.

You can pretty much bet that it will have some or other customised sw on it full of a special brand of MC approved bugs.

Guess Sentech was trying to rip them a new one and they stopped it to focus on IPTV.
