DStv system offline amidst strike

Multichoice made billions more last financial year but still decides to retrench staff, staff that need it the most and earn close to minimum wage, now this exactly how Zimbabwe was just before the economy collapsed, multichoice doesn't care about any of us, more people out of work equals more crime. Dstv premium has mostly minority subscribers, these are the people that carry multichoice and only few listened to Steve and cancelled. Private companies are entitled to massive profits but its up to us the consumer to get value for our money from these companies. Multichoice can make a considerable profit even if they fixed premium at R500 pm but it seems like premium subscribers dont mind getting raped as the same with cellular networks which are able to offer uncapped lte at less than R500 a month and turn a profit but choose not to because consumers are happy paying shareholders in other country's who live happy crime free corruption free lives, make private companies work for us is the only way we can save this economy from ending up like the rest of Africa which isn't far away R15, 30 to $1.

Those who would be retrenched are mostly people of colour, I thought this would make you very happy?
No if i think that way the economy wil collapse, money in bank will be worthless overnight and we all wouldn't afford bread, no need to bring up race or political parties, bring up the the guptas, how they enjoying fancy weddings in dubai right now, which was paid for in part by multichoice, if the government is corrupt does not mean private companies must also jump on the wagon they should assist us in fighting the evil if they cared about the country and its citizens

U sound like a happy dstv premium member, you are very valuable to South Africa, keep up the good work!

How do they rape your finances at will? You either sign up with them or you don't? They don't come in the middle of the night and take your money without your authorization.

Lol, they actually do/did. Been a victim myself and many others, was discussed a few times on here forum in the past. People who cancelled their contracts and then months later, even a year or two later, out of the blue get a debit order go off from MC. Then you had to struggle to get the money back, too.

If multichoice offered 2 packages
R300 PM all channels except sport
R550 pm all channels
Fixed for 5years, would multichoice still make a profit?

They will. Just less money they can use to buy sports rights (like the 2 billion they paid for the PSL rights) and less money to the shareholders and chairs.

I'm sure multichoice could cut costs and pay for sport rights by closing down so many unnecessary local so called film production offices all around the country, in my opinion its just handouts at the expense of dstv subscribers, a maid used to work for a relative is now driving a bmw and owns a mansion by producing a local film that nobody knows off and generated zero returns, how is this possible? Local film has never earned the revenue that international content will!
