Well not a good time to complain now, as they are raking in more R55 for Extra View and HD PVR then ever.

But I have one issue...

This monthly contract, it's all good, but wanting to charge me R468.99 for the remaining days of August is daylight robbery. There is no Pro Rata work out or no 8th Aug - 8th Sept solution.

No, regardless if I reconnect/subscribe on the 8th or even closer the the end of the month, lets say, the 25th, they will charge me R468.99 for the remaining days off August. On the 1st of Sept a new debit order will be in place.

Yeah thats a bit hectic. If the contract doesn't say that they will do this then you might even have a legal case. Not worth the bother though imo.

I was surprised yesterday that MultiC managed to transfer our account between smart-cards in <5min.

A bit melodramatic considering it is only the 8th! :) But yeah you think they would prorata. Suppose they don't want people only subscribing for rugby matches, Olympics etc. If you were not wanting it for a special event you would in all likelihood hold out until the 1st of the next month so they have you by the curlies!

i would suggest that multichoice must switch off your decoder as soon as you fail to pay your monthly subscription other than to wait until you owe them thousands of rands then they start threaterning you. unfair ne,.......or you must pay before you can view.

8 days of subscription I payed for I'm not going to have in September.

What are you on about!? Get your facts straight! Who said anything about not paying!? They always charged you before they connect your service!! I'm on about the pro rata they need to implement!

Not sure you got all of what I said the first time. You have the option of telling them you want the service to start 1 Sept 2008. You choose to have immediate connection, so they will charge you the full amount. This is what I meant buy they have you by the balls.

I am not sure but you may find, as with some companies, if it is after, say, the 15th of the month they may pro rata but before that not.

No, I did understand. :) But for me saving and saving for the Olympics, 8 days of payment I'm not going to have is not cool. :(

I asked them, what if I reconnect on the 25th, they said they will start a new bill on the 1st of Sept, so they not getting soft after the first 15 days. :(

I have paid pro rata twice before. My one friend have it automatically switched on Friday nights and switched off Sundaynights. He pays pro rata.

Call customer support and ask to speak to a supervisor.

This can't be true!! That's like saying switch it on for rugby matches and off again when the final whistle is blown and only charge me for 80 minutes! Sounds unlikely. Is your mate taking the p_ss?

Now why would you think it can't be true?

If you are on easyview, you don't pay reconnection fees.

My neighbour is on easyview, gets premium switched on holidays without calling them.As of my friend,he's only at home weekends, and he's switching on/off is also automatically. As for your "80 mins' argument, well its just childish to say the least,i was talking about weekends.

BTW someone once post here on the forum he only has dstv on Saturdays.

No I don't!! And that someone was the one who created this thread.

And I quote

R15 subscription (for Saturday only)

And that just to watch SS1

And know I don't do this EVERY weekend.

You see, one Saturday! And that was before the new Terms and Conditions came into effect on the 1st of June.

Why is our billing model changing to a monthly one?
Monthly billing is contractually required by our channel and content providers, in terms of the payment model for pay television. Monthly billing has always been part of our Terms and Conditions, but MultiChoice has not enforced the management thereof.

When do the updated terms and conditions come into effect?
The latest terms and conditions are already included in all new decoders manufactured since April 2008.

The official implementation date is the 1st of June.
