Durban Harbour Fire

Spur is providing meals for the firefighting crews.

Nope. Anyone with half a brain would focus on containing the fire & preventing it from getting to the petrol stations & fuel depots.

The insurance companies can sort out the shtshow as to who's Hello Kitty merch burned down later.

Precisely this... Let the **** in the warehouse burn because none of it should be nasty stuff... It's merely a general storage locaion...

Anyone know if those petrol stations have tanks or are piped from the refinery?

I meant the ammonia nitrite fertiliser warehouse next door. Terribly nasty **** when you are downwind of it. That stuff is nothing short what is dropped on enemy troops in warfare.

It's not as simple as just removing the stuff... You need another safe storage location etc or you are just spreading the danger to another place...

It's a non-issue I suspect. Assuming someone there has an IQ above room temp they stopped pumping fuel. And the remaining fuel in the pipe can't burn since it's all liquid...no oxygen.

I would hope so... But if the head end of the pipe were to rupture then things could get very ugly very quickly

Scary thing is our Refinery is very close by..

There is SAPREF of course and all the storage tanks by the airport. There is also one in the middle of Merebank God awful place for a refinery right in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

Pipe down... That's chump change
That is a lot of money and development for us

It is, but is SAPREF not further back, would think island view is more in danger

Scary thing is I put the Wimpy on Solomon Mahlangu drive (old Edwin Swales) on notice. If they need help to call, cause that's where I get my bacon sarmmie in the morning.
