My router seems to have trouble getting a new IP address from my ISP, Afrihost. This results in me keeping the same IP for up to 15 days, and the IP essentially gets blacklisted, and a bunch of ports and sites don't want to work. The only work around I have is to unplug the router for about an hour until someone else gets assigned the IP address.

Any way I can get a new IP addy by just disconnecting and reconnecting?

What are you doing to blacklist your IP?

And how fair is it for you to abuse that IP then can it and get a new one? What does the next guy do when he connects and gets this blacklisted IP?

I would suggest that you contact Afrihost and ask them what is going on. Afrihost should have a great support team.

Nothing that isn't within fair usage. I have a 50gig cap and dl minimal torrents. The 'blacklisting' was what the Afrihost tech support suggested was the reason. Needless to say speeds are usually very choppy and I don't think getting my IP renewed will actually have much difference

You may have a virus or trojan that is mailing (spaming) while you are on line and so your IP has been blacklisted. It also might tally with choppy speeds.
