I have a telkomsa.net e-mail account. I can receive mails fine (via 3G / mtn). Cant send mail though - error message reads "the recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying". I have tried using the follow address as an additional outgoing mail server: mail.mtn.co.za - still not working. Any advise please

You need to set up your SMTP settings to your Telkom account settings. You are using the MTN mail server to send out Telkom mail and the MTN mail server is rejecting it as you are not using [email protected].

Change your SMTP settings and it will work fine. Otherwise take a screen shot of your settings pages and post them here. You can do this by pressing the power button and home button at the same time and the screenshot will be in the camera roll.

My primary server is Telkom - my secondary server is the MTN mail server - I get the same error with or without adding the secondary server

When connected via MTN you need to use their SMTP server. But this will fail when at home or the office connected via wifi/adsl.

Get yourself a gmail account for sending mail. You don't need to use it for anything else. Just check the settings that your outgoing mails reply address is your usual address.

When connecting through MTN, use their SMTP server. They will tell you what it is.

Have you added your Telkom username and password to the Outgoing Mail Server settings?

Managed to get it to work - I had to deactivate the primary (Telkom
) server - so it seems that each time I need to send a mail via the MTN network I need to deactivate the Telkom mail server - a bit of a schlep but what else can I do
