Easy Equities good or bad?

First time (noob) investor. I have only read information. Been following the thread for a while now

Going to play around with the demos before I commit, any advice on demo amounts to start, or should i try and visualize what I would potentially be investing.?

How long to demo before I should commit?

Easy Equities is fine. There's no reason to play around with demos unless you don't actually have money to invest at the moment.

The thing is, whatever happens this month isn't likely to happen next month at all. This thread should not be construed as financial advice.

What you invest in, and what vehicle, depends definitely on what your objectives are. If you want to take up equities trading to make money short-term, EE is probably the wrong platform for you. But as a long-term investment tool, it works great.

Hi

I appreciate the advice. I am definitely looking at long term options.

I recently deposited money into my easy equity account and it’s reflected but how do I use that money to buy an etf with my tax free savings account. Did I use the wrong reference number?

Never mind got it.

Yup, you've got to use a different reference when you deposit. Usually it's just +1.

You can also transfer money between your ZAR and TFSA accounts via the Easy Equities website.
If the account holder is over 18. I made a mistake paying funds for my kids and had to contact EE to transfer the funds to the TFSA

Anyone gonna invest in their s12j. Is their promo giving you 10% back in cash? Looks good to me.

10%? It’s confusing. It’s saying they will give you R200 if you invest 2-9.9k. So I can get 10% back. But on the email it says 4%.
Yeah it's between 4-10%. The more you invest the less it is percentage wise.

EDIT: For over R100k it's actually less than 4%

That must be new. I can't remember the functionality being there last time I actually used EE.

(My strategy is set up debit orders and forget about it fwiw)

I doubled my money over the past year using their derivatives platform, but it was a bumpy ride.

Damn that's nice. I've dumped about 10k into my TFSA and only gone negative the past three months. Wondering if totally messed up the ETFs I chose
Did you choose local stuff? If you did, that's most likely the issue. All my local stuff is absolutely tanking right now. You are not alone.

And remember that saying... You only lose when you sell.

Or if a Steinhoff happens.

That's why I trade derivatives, you can short the market as well.
