Easy Equities good or bad?

Ouch, 60% local is high. I am close to 15% local, which I thought is to high because I buy into world indexes mostly which will also include a little bit in SA.
That's a good plan! Been reading too much money web I guess saying keep it local (against my better judgment). Will start changing it up! Wish one cud do some crypto in the TFSA portfolio hehe. U have some examples of well performing world indexes?

MSCI world is the go-to world index.

Also, if you have an RA that will be heavily invested locally, so I decided to make my TFSA 100% global.

Yes, you can play around as much as you want within the TFSA
Excellent. Think I'll dump some stuff like local property and divi plus. I put a few bucks into the world government bond and was surprised to get about 1% interest two weeks later. Dunno if I just timed it right or if actually pays out frequently

Heh yea sadly about 60% is local. Think I shud change that to be more 50.50

If you have a retirement annuity, it is subject to regulation 28 which caps the percentage that can be allocated to international investments at about 30%. You may want to consider being overweight international stocks in a tax free account in order to balance it out.

Dont be in a rush to move things around. Especially not if you losing too much right now.

That said, as for the world indexes, there are different ones, depending on whose advice you want to follow.

Let me give you some reading sources so that you can make up your mind yourself.

I really like https://www.stealthywealth.co.za 's blog. He likes the Satrix MSCI World ETF.
Kristia and Simon from the The Fat Wallet podcast show likes the Ashburton Global 1200 Equity ETF.
They also mentioned looking into GLODIV which I haven't reviewed myself yet.

Something you could consider is going 100% offshore with your TFSA. Especially if you already have a lot of local ETF's and stocks in your normal account. My split is more or less 50 / 50 right now. But I'm going to stop contributing to my local stuff from now on and just leave them be.

On the flip side, there is a lot of potential for local growth over our lifetimes, but it's a gamble. I have mixed feelings.

I've only kinda started. Been saving TFSA for almost a year thru fnb and that didn't seem to be going anywhere so moved it to EE so I can micromanage. Sadly only now realizing it's a bit more to think about when u have control. Initially though all ETFs wud have some kind of quarterly interest or dividend. Was sadly mistaken there. Now I gotta find the best stuff to leave it in. Kinda disappointed crypto isn't part of TFSA but I guess it's the risk factor. Had the perfect spread out mixed portfolio built up with recurring investments. Didn't agree with alot of them but I took the average packages that 18 fund managers in SA had their stuff into, and so far its been pretty terrible yea. If I had to go with my gut it wud be full on global in TFSA, one of the more local and global stuff in RA and full gold and full crypto in the ZAR. Will wait till some of my current local stuff in TFSA recovers to breakeven then redistribute in global.

EE has baskets and bundles if you're looking to simplify things.

Yea I had a look at those thanks. When I saw secret sauce I cudnt help but laugh and since then never really revisited it. I guess if this was easy everyone wud be doing it! I think it wud be really beneficial to new users if EE introduced some kind of comparison between all things u can invest in in terms of yield / commissions etc, but maybe that's just me that wants things handed on a platter information wise hahaha

Have you considered the DCX10 for crypto?

You should read the MDD for every ETF you want to invest in. That's what I started doing.

Don't be too stressed about making mistakes. If you're young enough you'll have plenty time to recover. I have also made my fair share which I am still recovering from LOL. It's been a long and costly learning experience for me.

My only dream now is to see everything local in the green again.

Having done all your reading etc etc, what are you currently invested in?

Does anyone know what happens to the dividends in the fund. Does it get reinvested in the tax free fund or do you get the cash?
