Easy Equities good or bad?

They sent me a mail outlining their new terms and conditions. From what I understand they want to put mandatory purchases in place, by either a bedit order or having available funds in your ee account .

No man.

It's a new product offering.

Basically a managed investment system like you would have at any other contracted company that invest monthly on your behalf.

You don't have to use it. It's just yet another product.

If you do however use it, you need a debit order. Just like say unit trusts at Old Mutual or Sanlam or whoever.

Like any contract, because one party is changing it the other party has the option to opt out as the original conditions are no longer valid.

Which is why they give you the option to do that if you no longer agree. They've done this every time they've made changes to their T&C's.

****

How do people fail this badly at basic reading and comprehension? They make it as simple as possible and still people confuse the issue or go off on a tangent.

Funnily enough only my daughter's account received it. Not my main one.

Sometimes more is more! EasyEquities is at it again with some nifty additions to make your investment journey interesting as well as #Easy.

Starting tomorrow (16/08/2016) our sparkling new recurring investments functionality will enable you to invest in the instruments (shares / ETFs etc.) available on the platform on a frequent / regular basis with just a single instruction. Sounds exciting doesn’t it? True story. We need to make sure you know exactly what that means and how it will affect our terms and conditions (just a smidgen), so here’s a summary of the changes for you to check out.

See? No biggie.

Having regard to the abovementioned changes, we wish to inform you that the new EasyEquities Terms and Conditions (New Contract) will take effect on whichever date is the earlier (the effective date):

(a) the date on which you place your first Order for a Recurring Investment;
(b) the date on which you set up your first Debit Order; or
(c) 10 (ten) Business Days after the date on which the New Contract is delivered to you and/or published on the Website (15/08/2016), and

after the effective date, our relationship and your Trades will be governed by this New Contract.

If you are not in agreement with the New Contract, you may give us 10 (ten) Business Days written notice to cancel the current Contract and discontinue using our services by sending an email to [email protected] which notice must be received by us on or before the effective date. We will assist you by either closing out your Trades or transferring your securities to another broker during the 10 (ten) Business Day notice period, whichever is applicable. However, you will not be allowed to enter into any new Trades during the notice period.

If you do not give notice to cancel the current Contract and close your Account on or before the effective date, then you are deemed to have accepted the New Contract and if you continue to engage in any Trading using the EasyEquities Platform after this notice has been received by you and/or published on the Website, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the New Contract.

You can access the full new terms and conditions here. There’s also a link to the Ts&Cs at the bottom of every page on the EasyEquities website.

Rest assured that we will continue to make investing as easy, cheap, fun and educational as possible. At the same time, however, we have to operate within the laws and regulations that govern our industry.

We trust that you understand, and invite you to contact us if you have any queries.

Kind regards,

The EasyEquities Team

P.S. Have you checked out our blog? Lots of cool investing know-how stuff on there.

They should have opened with that line here's a summary of the changes and then list the changes and then end with see no biggie.

These people are trying all the more to look and sounds like cybersmart catering for hip 4th graders

It would help if they state the actual changes to the Ts&Cs and not just refer to the Ts&Cs page.

How many clients have downloaded a transaction report and then found out that the balance calculated is different to the balance shown. I did this and my balance should of been 9 cents more. While this is minor it should not happen. I did query this at the beginning of the month and eventually an applications and development guy at purple group contacted me asked for more reports and a screenshot and the gave me the "mirror" answer they are looking into it. 9 cents is no big deal but if the systems can't even balance with transaction reports could there be other problems, or is not balancing an allowable business practice now.

I had an issue a while ago where I was short a couple of DIVTRX shares (thread is here somewhere). I complained/inquired and the problem magically fixed itself

That part I can agree with.

No idea what all this YOLO crap is about and if it appeases anyone at all.

This has been bothering me for a while. Opening and closing balances don't always line up. Sure it's just one or two cents but if the systems were working properly it wouldn't be the case at all. It's been a couple of times now where I make a purchase and it costs more than the exact amount calculated, sometimes resulting in a negative balance. Funny enough negative balances never adjust themselves but positive ones do.

Have you raised this with them? The response I get is an email after a few days saying the ticket has been closed as it has been resolved then when you complain they say it is a standard reply after 72 hours but they are still looking into it. Maybe if more clients raise this they will fix it.

Here's living in hope.

I want functionality for a custom basket. It works exactly like baskets do but you don't pay a fee since you have set it up yourself. Then one can just put some money in and allocate it to your basket and it will do the weightings for you. Or does this exist already?

No, You also can not categorise anything so their baskets mess your portfolio up goodly and make looking for anything a pain.

All you can do is #tag companies and even that is useless as it does not affect your account overview in any way whatsoever.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I was battling to sell NPK (Nampak) - even smaller amount. I have received this error message:
"Trade Unsuccessfull:Unable to open trade for user ***** on instrument 196 because You may not have or increase a short position for this instrument".

What does it means?

Just an update I received a phonecall saying that this due to decimal places when copying from 1 system database to another system and is very technical. But since 2 people have complained it will go up the priority list. This doesn't make sense but since it is only a few cents I didn't try and understand.
So thanks whoever else raised this, as it is an annoying fault.
So the message I got if a few people query the same thing they will try sort it out.
