Easy Equities good or bad?

It pains me that I can still see your stupid posts on Tapatalk. Wished you stopped moaning about the same stupid scht...
Complain to the developers then. I'm not the one forcing you to read them. Or wait, better yet follow your own ****ing advice and stop using Tapatalk.

I bought Advtech at 14:00 for R16.98. Just a minute or two after that it dropped to R16.93. Google finance confirms it was trading for R16.93 since 13:50 for at least an hour and it hasn't traded above R16.49 the whole afternoon. Why did I pay 0.3% more than the real market price?

Have you contacted easy equities? I contacted them about the balance of the account not tieing up to transactions. I got a few phone calls about it being related to rounding and decimal places, it looks like that is solved now. I was told it would take some time.

Do I go on and on in the MWEB thread about their throttling? No. They throttled me and I changed provider and moved on... move on troll-in-this-tread.

That's not a good example.

In your example you got bad service, in SWA'S case, he doesn't understand the service.

Hi guys,

100 pages on this thread. I am a new investor and keen to buy some shares in various companies with odds and ends saved at the end of the month, and when bonuses are paid out annually.

Is Easy Equities a good option?

Anybody care to share why i shouldnt just open a trading account with my bank or a brokerage firm?

Whats the benefits of using Easy Equities and what the negative aspects as opposed to going to old school route?

Thanks

The major benefit is that, it is cheap! Don't think there is any company that has lower prices for buying shares.

The negative is the buying and selling prices are the 15 min delayed prices, where with a proper trading account you can trade with live prices, which will cost quite a bit more also.

Correct me if i am wrong, I plan to invest long term, so I dont think the 15 min delayed price is going to be a big deal?

It can often work out to a few percent. Seeing as long term investing usually only makes around 10% per year it's quite an important consideration. I've said it before, EE is for small amounts (<R5000) irrespective of how you trade. For larger sums a proper broker account where you have full control over buying and selling prices instead of simply taking the offers usually nets you a bit more.

In this situation, could i not transfer my holdings to another brokerage firm should i feel there is need to trade at a different price then that specified by EE?

You could - at a cost.

If you want more control and are willing to stick with ETFs then ABSA ETF Only account is cheap enough for "odds and ends" type of money. I've used both and the full control is not really a benefit if you take other factors like liquidity etc. into consideration.

Long story short - go with EE until you need something else. The 15-minute delay over long term is a non issue because you'll either win or lose and average it out with monthly contributions. It really is something the average guy should not worry himself with. Costs have a much bigger (negative!) effect on your portfolio anyway.

What do you guys think about the fully managed bundles?

https://www.easyequities.co.za/Equity?categoryId=6

I think the two middle ones (Conservative Income and Growth & Income portfolios) you can do yourself. They're just buying a couple of ETF's for you. The Growth & income one in particular is weird:

40% NFGOVI - government bonds... ok
35% NFILBI - inflation linked bonds... ok
10% NFTRCI - basically money markets... ok
15% MAPPSP - an ETF made up of the top 40, NFGOVI, NFILBI and a cash component...???!????!?!?!?!?!?!!??!??!? WTF?!!! :wtf:

How much do you guys have in your demo account?

I have had mine since they launched. I have about R109k.
My holding as follows:
CSEW40 15%
NFGOVI 10%
DIVTRX 15%
PTXTEN 20%
DBXWD 40%

In the beginning I was playing with real shares, like naspers, discovery, sab miller, etc, and peaked at around R130k. But now only buy etf.

HI

Web site of easyEquities, broken (for me only it seems), now 4 weeks and their dev team cannot fix. I tried different browsers, but same issue.

It seems it all started when my scheduled tfsa debit order went off but no shares were bought on the 1st of November, a week later I complaint the shares was not bought and then suddenly the buy request went through but since then I cannot view my portfolio under account overview nor do any buy or sell from the web site. When clicking on link the page only display error occurred or selected equity does not exist. help and response are non existent.:mad:

I've been using it for about a year now, even went in to speak with a broker. I can honestly say it's awesome and provides you with a host of tools to get starter - I've also made money off the platform and have just cashed my dividends from Accelerate Property fund. Go for it!!

Are there any EasyEquities referral codes floating around that get you R100 free credit?
