Easy Equities good or bad?

Can anyone comment on their Experience with EE on their aggressive bundles? I cant find the performance stats, but they claim up to a 36% return over a 6month period?

It is difficult to find performance stats. I just keep a record of how much I bought and when. Have made about 3% in about 2 months

Interesting. So very difficult to judge at this point. Will be keen to see what your return is like after 6months.

You can export your fund data from EE and then import it to google finance.

Only the most awesome unsupported with risk of being taken offline site ever!
That's what I worry with those Google labs type services/sites one day its all rosy, next day it's been canned so sorry to all the ardent users.

I do agree they already decommissioned their finance API so I have to do some clever scraping to get the info I want. At least the public site is still up.

There are others but as with everything even a broken down site like that still beats anything else that is available for free. So I hope it stays.

Hi guys

I keep reading about having a diverse portfolio. I’m hoping I’m on the right track and I can get some advice with regards to investing in EE :

I have existing :

• Preservation Funds – AG Balanced, Coronation Balanced+
• Emergency Funds (Capitec)

I currently contribute monthly to :

• TFSA – FNB (I only invested due to earning more ebucks). I want to use the EE TFSA going forward.
• UT – Allan Gray Equities
• UT – OM Investors Fund A
• RA – Sanlam Cumulus Echo

I am considering investing R4500 a month split (EE TFSA – R2500, EE ETF’s – R2000) in the following based on their performance :

• STX40
• STXIND
• DXBUS/DXBWD
• PTXTEN
• MAPPSG

Do I invest in the same funds for a normal ETF account and TFSA ?
How do you rate the TFSA Baskets offered by EE ?

Any advice to investing with EE will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you don't transfer that current cash in your TFSA to the EE TFSA - well not just yet. This will count as a withdrawal, so rather keep it where it is until it's announced that you can do transfers.

I believe EE is going to start with RA's and UT's so look out for that in the future.

Those look like solid ETF choices, just have a look at DIVTRX - nice dividend payouts.

I don't think the ETF baskets are worth it - they charge fees on them, when you can just look at what the holdings are as well as weighting, and copy it without attracting the fees

Buying both STX40 and MAPPSG is silly. 75% of the MAPPSG is a top40 ETF (NFSWIX) so you're duplicating. STXIND in my opinion is also too heavy in NASPERS.

MAPPSG gives you extra exposure to bonds so if that is something you want it is great unless you DIY it and buy NFIBLI and NFGOVI which it does for you.

Personally I use DBXWD and PTXTEN from that list but dropped the top 40s (and in the process of dropping STXIND) for NFEMOM.

EDIT: DIVTRX I aslo own in my TFSA but I reckon NFEMOM is better for growth. I basically use these two for domestic exposure as far as ETFs go

Thank you for pointing that out. Thanks for the advice I will look at NFEMOM.

There are a lot of "duplicate" ETFs out there. Don't just blindly buy the ones you read about. Go read up on each and every one you are interested in and see how they work (ETFSA has all the fact sheets one one page).

I see easyequities updated their homepage and now it says unit trusts and RAs coming soon.

Yeah pretty cool, then one could do most financial 'stuff' through EE.

My 10x fund has produced -2% since I started working :(
