Eating with a knife and fork

I love prawns as well, but once you have had a spicy home cooked prawn curry, there is no substitute. Crayfish Curry is even better (hmmm... now I am getting super hungry).

Anybody know of a place in Pretoria East where I can get a good crayfish curry??

Go far enough east and you're in Durban! :p

I eat with my hands.
Except pasta I use a fork and or spoon.
Steak I use a knife and fork.
Soup a spoon and sushi chopsticks.
Its funny when people eat a burger with utensils!

Even at a business lunch Ill use a fork but 3/4 into the meal my hands take over.

Different strokes for different folks, when in Rome do as the Romans do :)

According to Confucius, it is considered barbaric to have a knife at the table when eating. Even today chopsticks are the preferred cutlery choice, but cutting is of the utmost importance in the kitchen, especially in Chinese cuisine. Everything is served in tiny pieces, with dishes containing all kinds of thinly sliced, chopped or minced vegetables and meats.

Good info to know about sushi etiquette:

When not using your chopsticks, put them on a dish with the tips to the left. Or I have seen the paper wrapper from the chopsticks folded in such a way to make a chopstick holder! (something to do while waiting for sake....) Never stick them in your food or rice bowl. It is also considered bad manners to use your chopsticks to pull the dishes to you. You should always use your hands to accommodate your dish-pulling needs. Resist the temptation to sharpen your chopsticks by rubbing them together. Doing so implies to the chef that the chopsticks are cheap. You may discreetly pull any loose wood fibers off while hiding it in your lap. Then again, if there are loose wood fibers on the chopsticks, maybe you should let them know their chopsticks are cheap!

Did you know... Sticking your chopsticks upright into your food, especially your rice bowl, is the traditional way of offering rice to the dead? Do NOT do this! Another form of rude behavior is to grab your chopsticks in the palm of your hand as you would grab a stick. This is how a sword is handled. Also, Do not play with food and try to figure out what's inside. The Japanese are generally sensitive about this and you insult your chef or host by picking the food apart. The way in which the food is arranged and presented is equally as important as the food itself. I have found the chefs are happy to answer any questions I have asked.

From eating in front of the tv, where you need one hand to hold the plate and the other to eat ;)
I also use my fork to cut things and it annoys my wife no end, I don't see the problem. :D

Lol I got the same issue. Bring me a knife if there's steak on my plate :D

I tend to use a fork or spoon if no cutting is required.I use my hands if necessary especially at nandos or when eating a burger, pita or roti/naan.

When sitting down for dinner at home or a friend's place and restaraunt - I prefer a knife and fork.
If its burgers or pizza, its all in the hands bru!

listen you bunch of hill billy yobs.............it's a hamburger not a hand burger so use a knife and fork dammit. use a knife and fork for a pizza as well. if you out eating a toasted sandwich, use that knife and fork that's given to you in the serviette, wipe said knife and fork clean with serviette before eating. what's wrong with you lot. bunch of hillbillies. eek.

Knife left hand, fork right hand. The way it's supposed to be.

If the burger is too big or falling apart I will use utensils.

Same here, however sometimes I use the side of my fork to cut some food
