Electrcity usage monitors - advice

Thanks again for the feedback, we have updated the site and manual. Hopefully we have made our product easier to understand for a first time viewer.

Hot Water links to the wrong image otherwise everything else looks good!

I set it for my worst case, ie max tariff I'm likely to use.

Electricity Measuring gadget

Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone know elec measuring device? Something like Kill A Watt

Hopefully you can get something like that in South Africa and as accurate as possible?
Wanted to measure what my PC is drawing from the socket and other gadgets at home.

Thanks

There was a thread on this topic a few months ago, have a search and see if you can find it.

I got one of those efergy meters for R220 on special from builders a couple of weeks ago.

Yip, also using the Efergy at home and at work.
Great to see all you devices and how much they consume.

I'm using a HomeBug, quite a bit more expensive, but it does a lot more than just monitor the usage.

Indeed, I can't recall the exact figures, but it's crazy high, or or "off", 24/7.

I've seen, or rather, heard, that some devices use insane amounts of power during "standby". Unlike the old devices that would use pretty much zip during standby.

Dishwasher, DSTV, LCD TV - all use about 1 w when on standby.
Washingmachine - 7 w. huh?
My chest freezer was a pleasant surprise - when the compressor wasn't running it was 0 w.
