Electricity Bill Help

The R1600 will be passed to the previous tenants, it's the R1400 for October we're talking about. A reading was taken this month but was the first since July, but without the reading from the beginning of Oct there's no way to know how much we did actually use. Probably going to end up paying it, not the end of the world but still annoying.

You kind of screwed without the reading when you moved in ,but be proactive now - check the readings daily or at least weekly yourself so you can gauge your usage at least you can see end of november if it looks like it was correct or not

Done my sums, in the 6 days since the previous reading we've used 148 units, works out to around 617 units in the 25 days under that bill we're liable for which is like R800.

So definitely not paying the R1400, the previous tenants must have been running crypto rigs or something.

just check your calculation - IIRC Tshwane has 4 blocks 0-100 (R1.31) , 101-400(R1.53), 401-650(R1.67) and 650+ (R1.79)

so +/- R950?

I have lived at the same place for 4 years. My largest bill for electric is $102.00 two years ago. My bill is usually around 65-75 dollars. This month my bill is $264.00. Yes it is for January, but it was not that cold and there is just no way. Are there ways that the power company could play a part in why my bill is so ridicuous. (decreased PF, transformers going bad, bad connections). I checked the KWH and they are correct according to the bill. We have digital meter supplied by Bluegrass Energy. Any suggestion on why? Thanks

Well as I have moved house twice in the intervening 6 years, oh and am halfway across the planet I can't be much help I'm afraid.
