Ha! Stuff Eskom! My power just went out and I'm typing this off generator power. I'm not going to lose another three hours of work through their incompetence.

Its an engine - just like the one in your car. Always run both in a well ventilated areaDude be very careful when handling generators, the fumes generated by generators can KILL people, I heard on Talk FM that people should be careful using them.
btw great price damn, i should look into that too.
cheers.
Sounds like exactly the same one that I have - they're rebranded like crazy. I was in builders yesterday and there were 4 of them, all with different branding and prices! It is called a Red Rhino GC950DC although I think it is basically a no-name brand Chinese unit because the name does not appear on the manual at all. Wikkie's Pompe (Google it) still has a lot of them left but the sales guy told me that they are moving very fast.
I find my gennie struggles through the UPS if the UPS is drained.
If I switch over to gennie quick enough it is fine.
Kinda makes sense, as the gennie is then charging the UPS and powering the PC.
Worth keeping in mind.
I'll keep that in mind thanks![]()
My process:
Hibernate
Start Gennie
Let Gennie run 2-3 mins
Switch PC back on
We are planning on buying a generator that would run +- 60 PC's, I would like to what capacity of a generator that would handle that much PC's,We are not going to run anything else like lights or air cons but the pc's and maybe 4 dsl routers. How can I calculate how much power 1 pc will need?
A mate of mine just got a price for a small office block, probably in the region of 60 odd PC's. They were given a price of R500000. All of the offices are going to pay it off over a couple of years. For his office it worked out at around R1000 per month over and above his rent.
Thanks Eskom.
We are doing one for R20K for around 30-40 PCs
