Elite Dangerous

also just got back into it and properly hooked now... the new patch is awesome! still saving up so i can start running passenger missions.

little more info. I got Horizons and it adds a lot, i am not sure what is unlocked or not but with Horizons you get passenger missions, so becoming a bus driver is now an option and its quite lucrative. Planet landings are ok, I am not sure if I am enjoying it or not. but apparently later game it gets better with more stuff to discover. they found alien ruins recently which everyone is excited about. but i started again and am very very far from all the cool stuff happening.

Any active players here?

I have decided to get back into the game, but want to know how much Horizons has added to YOUR user experience.

Greetings.
I still play this game alot.
So if you(or anyone here) want to go bounty hunting or attack bases or something add me as a friend. commander name is Captain~D.
I normally dont play in Open becuase sometimes its laggy since its P2P networking, so it would be nice to play with more locals.

new patch dropped this week, and there some really nice changes! FDev is really working hard! excited to see what happens this year with ED

Patch Notes

they also removed the commodity requirements for engineers which is a very welcome change!

Guys! GUYS! It's here! Python Ship Kit

Also, for those of you looking for a HOTAS, Rebeltech has the new Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS stick and throttle set in stock at supplier. Wootware and Raru have it listed but not in stock yet.

Hi guys, I got this over weekend with the season pass and commands add-on I think it was called.

When I launch it asks if I want to run Elite Dangerous, OR Horizons. Do I need to finish ED first and then use Horizons or should I just start using that now?

Hey MeNez, nope you don't need to. Horizons is the same game just with more functionality. So your progress/ships/cash will be there with Horizons. So forget the ED launch, all you care about now is Horizons and welcome CMDR o7

Thanks Maximus, so I just launch Horizons and ignore the default and commanders thing?

Now with carriers, and this coming in 2021. Reuploaded, by another user,

Good to see on the devs expanding the game. This is how you maintain a service title.

Video been removed.

Yes, just seen that it isn't fake either, but it was supposed to be announced after the finalisation of the carriers update which is still in testing.

The initial video was uploaded on the Frontier channel.

I think I know what happened. Frontier announced some time ago that a new paid expansion will be released in December 2020 to enter a new era, but was pushed back due to COVID-19 to Q1 2021. Then now they released the video to their ‘select’ backers which were supposed to be private, but by mistake posted as public. 49 Viewers were exposed to the teaser published on their account which I posted on Mybroadband.

It is made official,

It's time to disembark, Commander.

We are delighted to share with you a glimpse of the Next Era - Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.

Explore distant worlds on foot, expand the frontier of known space and leave your mark on the galaxy as you become the first person in history to explore lands untouched since time began.

So you've disembarked, you're standing for the first time on an unexplored planet. What can you do next? Here's an overview of what you can look forward to in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.

One Giant Leap

See the galaxy like never before. Touch down on breathtaking planets powered by stunning new tech, soak in suns rising over unforgettable vistas, discover outposts and settlements, and explore with unrestricted freedom.

Forge Your Own Path

Take on a wide variety of contracts and play your way, from diplomacy and commerce to lethal stealth and all-out combat. Diverse settings, objectives, and NPCs offer endless mission variety and a near infinite amount of content to enjoy.

Assemble Your Crew

The Sphere of Combat

Experience intense first-person combat, kit out your character with an array of weapons and gear, and coordinate with teammates to master a multi-layered, deep, tactical environment where Commanders, SRVs and Starships converge.

From now until launch, we'll be sharing more information, developer diaries and trailers as we get ready to embark on this exciting new adventure! Click here to wishlist here on Steam.

all i want with Odyssey is to be able to walk around my ship. My concern with Odyssey is walking is just going to be another form of travel... what I mean by that is that there is not going to be any new game play loops introduced with it, so for example. you can get around on a planet now with an SRV, so with odyessy instead of an srv is just going to be you running around... nothing new to do. but its just been announced and I really hope Frontier do this right.

I see Odyssey is not going to support VR, which is sad. its been said for a long time Elite is one of the best VR games you can buy.

still got a ton of love for this game... space trucking for the win
