[Emburst] R480 uncapped???? OMW!!

come on guys - it has to be at least 256 - ICASA said so; They used the 'B' word. ;)
 
I dropped two e-mails and got a very quick response on both. It seems that they offer 128kbps upload and up to 512kbps download or best depending on wireless issues we all know about.
 
Hey right now Id rather go with Goal, same level of service, better web design :)

Guys check out this web page. I got a PM from WarriorMonk, seems he works for emburst\emcom.

Good to know at least they have a keen interest in the public opinion, unlike some companies we all know.

So how about maybe we cut them some slack with their webpage design, I for one am shocked to see one of them reply to us! thats gotta count for something.

Afterall, good service does not equal a pretty webpage! :)

On that note I actually see a lot of potential for them.

They just use normal Wifi like all the other WISP's from what I can tell, what is this EmBurst they keep talking about? I think they're just trying to leach off iBurst's name so that they don't look like another 802.11 WISP.

I wouldn't trust it either. This part sounds like it will turn to the usual crap wisp type of service as soon as a few people sign up : "Broadband eliminates waiting time and provides much faster access. EmCom's Broadband is a best effort service and no guarantees are provided on throughput. Broadband is an access medium to the Internet and will not overcome any bandwidth related constraints within the World Wide Web."

In case they didn't notice, the world wide web isn't going to be bogged down by us owning he power of 512kb max wifi broadband, so I think it's just an excuse for if things go bad.

Sorry I keep seeing new things : "Remember signing a 36 month contract, your monthly subs will not be subject to annual inflation based increases." So they plan to increase their prices every year? Sounds like a plan, now to find them in them out in the garden conducting business.

Goodness. I would design them a better page than they got... And even their apology page looks terrible. So if they know it looks cheap, why not change it?!?

There is nothing free about a za.net website. It costs just as much to host the domain. Unfortunately for us, the domain emcom.co.za was taken.
