eNATIS - again

The most annoying part is that some of the dense ANC supporters posting in this thread dont realise is that the people that suffer the most are those staying in the townships, soweto, etc..

I can spare the R30 and budget for petrol for the month to get to work as 99% of the people posting here can too..

But not those that cant afford private transport, and will have to pay the higher taxi rates, that come with a higher petrol price and added taxes.. They are the ones that queue for 2 hours in the morning, and 2 hours in the evening because there are no alternatives.. no one here arguing about the R30 tax cares what colour the president or the leaders of this country are, we just want the upliftment of the country as a whole..

Yet they continue to blindly defend the same people that are milking South Africa dry..

What? So blacks shouldn't pay the 30 bucks? You do realise that there ARE black people that are well off and white people that are poor. Anyway not to derail or anything but ya poor people shouldn't have to fork out the levy, in fact nobody should, I mean seriously you'd expect a R400mil+ project to be running like smooth butter from the start, I guess we got the cheapline butter:rolleyes: .

I heard about this R30 tax to cover the annual maintenance cost of the eNatis system on the radio yesterday. According to the DJ, the system costs +/-R420million and the annual maintenace costs will be +/-R250million. The interesting point that the DJ made was that if you bought a car for R300 000 you would not be expected to pay R150 000+ per year in maintenance cost.

BTW, I think there is a typo with the system name - it's supposed to be eAnus because it's so full of....:D

Anyone if eNatis is up or down at the moment? If up is it fast or slow. I have to renew another license and the press seems to be quiet.

Probably find the R30 eNATIS levy maintenance budget includes press lunches...

OK, jokes aside - it has been quiet on that front - lots of noise re the levy, virtual silence on the performance.

Last Thursday or so, I went past on other business and timed the person at the head of the Q - around 4 mins.

Not sure what you okes are talking about. Taxis are not public transport - they are private transport. Run by hooligans and gangsters if the drivers are anything to go by.:cool:

Update:
Johannesburg - Johannesburg metro police were deployed to the Langlaagte testing station on Tuesday morning after irate members of the public threatened to break down the doors.

National traffic spokesperson Collen Msibi confirmed the department's new electronic system (eNatis) had been offline since Tuesday morning due to a fault with a VDSL Telkom line.

It was fixed by 10.30.

Checkout another news report from Port Elizabeth with frustrated motorists, lets bring the licensing system
for the country to its knees. Or maybe revert back to the old system.

What! How does ADDITIONAL data speed up the system? Sure I can think of some "out there" scenarios, but is this dude serious?
