eNATIS - again

Its like the Petrol Price - It keeps getting pumped up and up and up - yes, I know the price of a barrel of oil fluctuates, but in S.A we are conned out of our hard earned money, and there is nothing we can do about it!

You should try buy petrol in europe! ... there is noting to complain about in SA regarding the price of petrol!

RichardP, I know its a lot more expensive than in S.A, but how OFTEN does it get bumped up and up, then decreased by a couple of cents, then bumped up again? Every month?

Not to mention they have alternatives. Like that big thing - looks like a very big car - painted red, got two storeys. You pay when you get on? What *is* that thing called?

The thing.. where the wheels go round and round? round and round? round and round?

Heh? What are you people talking about?

Looks like a taxi - except it has four wheels, a steering wheel and lights.
The seats are also bolted down, and it has indicators.
And, best of all, once you are on it, you are almost certain to get off again, alive!

damned if I remember the word.

I think that most SA people have forgotten the blessings they have. I have been out of SA for 6 months and my memory is refreshed every day how good SA is compared to alot of places I have been. I plan to kiss the ground when I get back to SA. Sure petrol is expensive, but at least you can drive without paying 'congestion charges'

;)

A Fiat Multipla?

Thats just because you chose a silly little city, with silly little roads :P
Out here.. on this little island, the petrol stations get to pick their own prices.
There is 1 petrol station left in the City, and its 50% more expensive than anywhere else.

Taxi drivers could benifit from eNATIS, registered taxi's should not be fined when commiting traffic offences, instead they should be credited for not committing traffic offences.

You cannot compare Europe to South Africa when it comes to the petrol price. There are no alternative options here when it comes to transport unless you don't mind risking your life in a taxi and walking 5km to your intended destination.

If there were efficient alternatives then a high petrol price would be justified.. In our current situation government should be subsidising petrol!!!

Damn, if public transport worked, I would be really happy.

It costs about 25-30% of the wife's salary to get to work. Yet, she works in the CBD, 2 mins from the terminus, and we have a bus stop outside our house.

Efficient ganafment organisation.
Back in the early 90's when I was studying, I took buses and trains everyday. I never even owned a car - it was a pointless expense.
When I started work in 1995, I took a bus to work everyday.
Since then, the transport situation has degraded so bad, my daughter (born 1997) has never SEEN a train, nor has she been on a bus.

Viva!

Ah! U must mean Gravy Train! I have heard about that on the news I think....

Vehicle registration, vehicle licensing, personalised number plates, learner licence applications, drivers licence applications, professional drivers permits and drivers licence card renewals.

So why not just increase those fees by R30 and be done with it? It would've gone down much easier as it would not be directly tied to the cost of the system [even though it is]. Now seperating the "transaction cost" and the "license cost" makes it sound we are paying to have a system AND for the actual licensing . We pay TAXES TO HAVE A SYSTEM...wtf is taxes for?.

Now on top of that, R30 is a fixed fee. I assume it's not on ALL transactions? I mean seriously, if i have R50 fine, must i now pay R30 on top of that? That's absurd!

It's like making me pay the same as a TRUCK at the tollgate!
