Err wtf is this - Email from Afrihost?

So very dissapointing considering how fantastic they were a few months back when they started selling international bandwidth at R29 per gig. Should've stuck to that business model instead of trying to compete in the uncapped market against much larger competitors.
 
The beginning of the end for Afrihost.;)

A real internet expert predicted the end of many ISP's in the next 18 months, here on MyBB news and it starts looking like Afrihost may be the 1st casualty of war. R.I.P.

I wonder who'll be next? Maybe IS themselves?

This might well be the case. I friend of mine uses their capped packages and also experienced what appears to be heavy shaping so... Bye Bye
 
So this morning I got an email reminding me to change my username.

Is this now what they do to "abusers" of their uncapped services? Because I haven't gone over 20gb once per month, since I signed up with them when their uncapped packages became available.
 
I really don't understand why they don't just send an e-mail out to their uncapped users stating that they don't want to compete in the market anymore and give people a month or two to find a new ISP. Instead they're shunting us onto a pathetic service and as a result people will always remember them in a horrible light.
 
I wonder if they don't have the finances to give better services anymore or what. I'm sure they are aware of the mass amounts of cancellations recently. I know I'm one of them.
 
SAD but you can get your money back
A debit order is reversible.
You go to bank and tell them you did not approve that and they reverse it
Simple

As for MWEB the connections is currently a bit slow because Telkom was still busy with their IPC upgrade
From the details that was in the news story I think they said it should be done sometime this month
As soon as that happens the connections should be great again

So I cancel the Afrihost account and then what? Get an Mweb uncapped account?
 
Looks like all uncapped users are moved to IS. AH wants us to GTFO.

"Based on your download and usage patterns we believe that an Uncapped ADSL account on the Internet Solutions (IS) Uncapped Realm will be better suited for you. "

Ama-zing! My download and usage pattern is < 10GB / mth and 50% is during normal office hours. R197/10 ~~ R20/GB, way above the R14/GB special top-up rate.

What I find amazing is that they don't give you a choice in the matter. Guess this is one of the reasons no ISP offer contracts on their uncapped products
 
Can anyone who uses Mweb tell me when they do the billing? Afrihost debit order going through on the 25th was bollox, and they refused to move it. I only get payed on the 30th.
 
Is anyone else's international down?............ Afrihost uncapped, the new username they gave me..

[edit] Nevermind looks like it's back. Was down for a while though. Was about to go ape **** on the phone with them

This is ridiculous. My flickr and general browsing was ridiculously slow outside of office hours! Time to move to mweb earlier. So what if I pay a few hundred extra.

Pretty sure this is completely wrong. Their whole uncapped network started on the @dslmweb domain and they moved some people over to the @mweb domain while their IPC links needed to be upgraded. Once this happens the MWeb rep has said they'll be moving everyone back to @dslmweb like it was before. So really nothing to do with abuse at all.. maybe you were an existing MWeb client so your router was always set to @mweb since before they offered uncapped and they then moved you over later?
