I have an issue where my wireless mouse as it does not scroll smoothly anymore. When scrolling it either jumps up or snaps back and one has to "scroll several times to just get from the bottom of the page to the top. The issue is more evident when scrolling up that when scrolling down. Is this something that one can resolve somehow or is a new mouse the only solution?

It's a cheap mouse that is almost a year old and everything else works fine. Just woke up one day to a problem with the scroll wheel.

Rubbing alcohol in the wheel.

The scroll it vigorously on your Jean pant.

Problem solved, assuming it’s a hardware issue and not a software one.

I dont think its a software issue. as i have tried other mice and they scroll fine. The problem with it being so cheap is I have to pay delivery that is half the cost of the price of the mouse itself. So I was trying to talk myself out of that.

Here is the problem mouse https://www.takealot.com/gofreetech-wireless-mouse/PLID42987747

Does what I need on a mac system and perfect for productivity. The two side buttons are a life saver daily switching between window spaces.

Anyways I'll try the cleaning suggestions above hopefully it'll help

Generally what happens with these wheels that have mechanical components is that dust and fibres and sweat and dirt all go in there and eventually clog it all up and that’s what causes the erratic scrolling.

Just consider all that crap at the bottom of the mouse from dragging it around, well the wheel looks much like that inside.

So the rubbing alcohol will eat away at that and clean the sensors in the process while rubbing it on a rough material works it away.
