The right direction my ass, a very small fart in the ozone layer of destruction. South Africa will never have an affordable stable power supply from the state ever again, the damage was that bad.

You really need to calm down and learn the difference between PRASA and Transnet.
 
would love to know the priority order of this:
De Ruyter said they have a multi-pronged approach to reduce Eskom’s debt further.
  • Increase revenue through electricity tariff increases.
  • Collect money that is due to Eskom, notably municipal debt.
  • Clamp down on illegal connections and non-paying customers.
  • Reduce Eskom’s cost base, which include better procurement.

tariff increases should be at the bottom of the list imo, not because it is ridiculous, but rather it's been the goto medicine of every past Eskom CEO to avoid fixing the actual problems

once those are fixed, or once we allow competition in this space, we can talk tariff increases

Tariff increases are fixed at least 15% for the next 5 years. After that, we will have the same increases probably for another 5 years as many move to solar and newly created disasters from the ANC.

Ah yeah, no. That is bollocks smoke and mirrors. Not a real turn around of the RAF.

The whole concept of the RAF is just broken and can't be 'turned' around really. It needs to be done away with actually.

Transnet is just as affected as PRASA by crime.
Goods trains, the responsibility of Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), did not escape the effects of rampant crime. In March 2020, also before the lockdown, Transnet reported that it was cancelling about 170 goods trains a month because of a spike in 2019 in the theft of overhead cables.

SABC, what exactly have they done? They had a R500m loss 2019/2020 while their content has reduced, they've been losing more sponsors, etc.

RAF is a failure through and through, I am highly doubtful of a turn-around there just because of the amount of money involved. The fact that they posted a surplus means nothing, it's more likely that they just weren't able to act on their mandate.

Anybody who’s been involved in corporate politics know Andre has nuts of steel. Honestly didn’t think anybody would be able to even start steering Eskom in a positive direction.

I don't remember ever saying anything about good SOEs, I merely mentioned that a couple of them are headed in the right direction, in the general spirit of this thread.

I`m not sure I believe the SABC profit story, they are the ANC`s propaganda machine after all.
