Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter's impressive performance

Shows you what a difference a non - cadre employment can do at a SOE. Race has nothing to do with this, just get the bloody right people and not try and always steal everything.

I don't remember ever saying anything about good SOEs, I merely mentioned that a couple of them are headed in the right direction, in the general spirit of this thread.

I would not trust a report like that until the full year financials are in, could even be something like spinning huge income for April because the year's sponsorship revenue came in.
Transnet and SABC have been through so many turnaround plans already, I'll trust one when I see it working consistently fora few years.

Even Eskom one is iffy to me, that seems to be more that the rand strengthened so easier to pay off dollar-denominated debt.

Great to see some good news about an SOE, sadly this man has been under continous attack with his own Executive and Management Structures out for his head working continously against him, can only imagine what he would have achieved with a team that was behind him 100%.

Hopefully De Ruyter can kill this Coal Trucking Tender nonsense, its still well known within Eskom that this is a very lucrative business at great expense to the nation, I'm sure once this looting loophole is shut the fight to keep the aging coal stations running when much more cost affective solutions are available will end.

Besides Solly which Eskom management structures are out for his head?
Because a reduction in debt augurs well for the working relationship he has with the management structures at Eskom.

Repeat after me,

For the first time in 15 years Eskom has reduced its debt.
For the first time in 5 years the SABC has turned a profit.
The New Dawn is real.
Repeat after me:
For the first time in 15 years Eskom has reduced its debt after a major strengthening in the rand.
For the first time in 5 years the SABC has turned a profit for one month with no one knowing if they actually did so or not as you don't measure a large companies based on a single month.

The New Dawn is a political move, and most of those corrupt people are still in their posts/shifted to a different one.
The Eskom one is the only good thing I've seen of the change since the beginning, and I think that has more to do with even the ANC realizing that they need to cut back slightly for that SOE.

Throughout the organisation, from the man on the ground right up to the top, if you can get into Megawatt park do so, and hang around the water coolers ;)

Of course, looks like we have more of those looking at the results, the good guys are winning.
So is that's why there is still load shedding, even though the latest IPP was supposed to be fast tracked and it still hasn't actually started to be built? And then also award with such criteria as to make it so that it goes to those corrupt people?
You're delusional.

I really hope these numbers are factual and not just perfect timing for the G7 summit. General SOE numbers that is.

Lowlifes still have time to hang around the water coolers while De Ruyter is breaking a sweat reducing the company's debt?

A couple of SOEs looks to be headed in the right direction, I told you people that the New Dawn is real.
