Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter's impressive performance

I think the 2 are related - previous Eskom CEOs have incurred lots of debt burning diesel to minimise load-shedding. He's taken the approach of running more load-shedding and keeping the OCGTs for pure peak periods. That's why we don't see us going from stage 1 during the day to stage 4 during peak times and back down again - the schedule is more consistent.

Still does not change the fact that energy supply has almost collapsed and that the country is now in a position where it only has electricity certain hours of the day. It is not about loadshedding any longer, it is now a fight to provide electricity where possible.

So which specific hours of the day does the country not have power?

Currently we don't have anything at the moment. Will tell you later today or tomorrow, because with stage 4, seems we may have another 4 hour downtime later tonight as well in my area.

Repeat after me,

For the first time in 15 years Eskom has reduced its debt.
For the first time in 5 years the SABC has turned a profit.
The New Dawn is real.
Election coming up, nothing more..

Commies know their propaganda is easier to swallow after they make a few examples.
The ANC is playing out 'A good story to tell..' for the masses, again
While still keeping them poor & ruining their future.

Remember how 'poor ministers' struggle to come out with R100k a month, masses get free fiddy a month.
So much for equality..

Oh, and remember the hoo-ha over over a white guy being appointed?
Well he showed you didn't he? LOL!

Repeat after me:
For the first time in 15 years Eskom has reduced its debt after a major strengthening in the rand.
For the first time in 5 years the SABC has turned a profit for one month with no one knowing if they actually did so or not as you don't measure a large companies based on a single month.

The New Dawn is a political move, and most of those corrupt people are still in their posts/shifted to a different one.
The Eskom one is the only good thing I've seen of the change since the beginning, and I think that has more to do with even the ANC realizing that they need to cut back slightly for that SOE.
I am equally surprised that the strengthening of the rand is mentioned only in passing, instead of being given greater prominence given its significance to the story. Not to take anything away from Andre de Ruyter's performance but that favourable exchange rate movement has contributed about half of Eskom's debt reduction for which he is being praised.

After taking a loan what comes next - debt repayment (and reduction), which is the phase that Eskom is in now, and will be in for some years after Andre de Ruyter.

All credit to him, he appears to be making an attempt to stop the looting.

Well done to him, his merry band of morons.

No, fck'em all. They are all equally fckning useless. If they did their jobs we wouldn't have load shedding. Bunch of ball-/brainless idiots.

So the whole country doesn't have power at the moment?

Weird, I must be getting magic power from somewhere then.

Not an expert, but I personally think the infrastructure and corporate culture he inherited is in such a poor state that it will take a few more years to get it sorted, if ever. At least we are moving in the right direction, albeit very slowly...

Rome was not built in a day, our cadre is hard at work.

You two are way too optimistic, these people are all the same. It's just a matter of time before his corruption scandals comes out.

Shows you what a difference a non - cadre employment can do at a SOE. Race has nothing to do with this, just get the bloody right people and not try and always steal everything.
but then cadres won't get rich...

A couple of SOEs looks to be headed in the right direction, I told you people that the New Dawn is real.
...most can not sense it...but there is a collective energy shift occurring , ...Zuma years, ....was a necessary detour... now let the new bloom, let possibilities be unleashed ...and yep, the New Dawn is real!

What?

However, I do think Andre is a d00s sometimes... a few months ago in an article, he mentioned that people with solar panels + inverters are using "eskom" as a plugin for when they don't have sun, which is why they should be charged extra... but in reality, it's the other way around... most people wouldn't have solar panels if Eskom could just provide reliable power. always bloodyfucking victimising themselves.
