Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter's impressive performance

In the past we had stage 4 AND growing debt at Eskom. Under De Ruyter we have stage 4 and shrinking debt.

It's not much but at least it's something...
Makes no difference to us as consumers.

It's not our debt, it's their debt. And we're being made to pay more for our electricity to pay off their debt. And we still have load-shedding that hasn't gotten any better.

So yeah while Eskom might be better off, we as the consumers are worse off...

Their debt is OUR debt, whether we like it or not. Our taxes get used for bailouts to pay off loans instead of investment in new infrastructure or other things that would be of benefit to us. Eventually it will get to the point where Eskom won't need bailouts and they can invest more in maintenance/new power/whatever.

So ya, it does make a difference to us, simply because we pay taxes.

I'm sitting in the dark. It makes a massive difference

Lets see de Ruyter became CEO for Eskom Jan 2020
So he has been CEO 1 year six month

Now flip what the hel is wrong with him he has not in that time fixed 20 years of not servicing the old power stations
He has not had Medupi and Kusile rebuilt to a proper standard

What does he need another month to get this sorted?

:p

Sorry seriously the reason we are getting lots of load shedding is because Eskom is actually trying to service the old power stations
While they do not have enough working units in place and there is still massive issues

No one even if everyone in Eskom supported them 100% could fix the last 20 years issues in a year and a half
We got to give credit that at least things are improving

As for the ANC and current President improving things
Maybe that is the case but I will not put any faith in that until some of the corrupt leaders start going to jail

Until that happens things like the Zondo commission is just a massive smoke screen to make it look like the ANC is doing something while nothing is happening

The amount of racism thrown at him as well, also apparently you cannot defend him as you're a white guy defending a white guy.
Just shows, again; it takes one white guy to fix what multiple other races messed up. Never fails, does it.?

He is not. I think we probably had the longest continuous blackouts under him. Financially, it seems he did okay in getting rid of some of the debt. But, that is about that.
Andre got rid of debt in one year what others escalated since 1994. Do you expect eskom to be fixed in a single year after all these years of mismanagement and corruption??

Electricity failure.
Only the government fekked it up.
That's all.

Actually he did not get rid of debt, he reduced it, there's still a hell of a mountain to climb in terms of getting rid of the debt, also Eskom debt has been well managed from 1994, things started falling apart around 2007/8, the fact that it's decreasing is very encouraging nonetheless.

de Ruyter himself said that the power stations have not been properly maintained for the last forty (40) years. So, we are in this mess longer than twenty (20).

I had never heard of "Load Shedding." until i wandered back to SA about 12 years ago.
WTF its a bloody power failure.
Cadres you broke it.
Now fix it you lazy, stealing twats.
