Huh? Basically all the "tenderprenaurs" plotting to overthrough him becuase their 'tender game' is being treathened or they worried the hawks might just rock up at their doors. I believe the continous statements from Cyril, Pravin, De Ruyter and The Board, that no retrenchments will happen is so that these "tenderprenaurs" can't use the power of the unions to get De Ruyter kicked out...

Didn't the taxpayer give them R80 Billion bailouts so far and more to come, thereby reducing the debt? How is increasing electricity costs a positive thing to praise the Ceo for?

It was R56bn... so around R30bn has come from efficiencies and recovered money etc rather than just government bailout money.
 
Just a shame he could not save Eskom.

Stage 4 loadshedding from 14:00 today.

The longer he stays there the bigger the chance the utility will collapse under his management. What nice scapegoat would he become!

He is not. I think we probably had the longest continuous blackouts under him. Financially, it seems he did okay in getting rid of some of the debt. But, that is about that.

That would be the goal but first cut off their power to mobilize, it has already been identified that the water coolers are their spot, squeeze their space, same thing the Frog Boiler did with RET and now following up with MKMVA, we really need to learn from that guy.

His wings are clipped, he can fiddle about with Eskom's employees and things but we all know any kind of contracts he would even try to secure for more power will be denied without payback arrangements for the cadres.

all we can do is wait for their over-inflated power solutions to come into play wher they can get they RBn's in stolen money and we can get some reprieve from the load shedding.

  • He's the CEO that shifted loadshedding to households, 17hoo - 22hoo...the lowest consumer of kw's. A dangerous time for most households to have loadshedding
  • The CEO that wants to charge solar users just for being connected

But we celebrate a reduction in debt caused by a fcking tax bailout. The tax payer is responsible for any debt reduction, all 50 million of them. And they are thanked by shifting the bulk of loadshedding to them.

Agreed. Nothing to celebrate here. But, we do live in SA and we are being forced to look at everything just to find that one small positive thing for propaganda purposes, no matter how immaterial it is. Eskom is over. There is no saving it. They are going to use him as the scapegoat for its collapse.

I think the 2 are related - previous Eskom CEOs have incurred lots of debt burning diesel to minimise load-shedding. He's taken the approach of running more load-shedding and keeping the OCGTs for pure peak periods. That's why we don't see us going from stage 1 during the day to stage 4 during peak times and back down again - the schedule is more consistent.

I disagree with the singing hurrah crowd.. these people are the kind of people who sing success for etolls going away when its charged some other manner. Cool.. but you missing the point.. in this case it was NOT a sustainable decline but rather a once off event which isn't entirely his doing.

So yah.. i'd say jury still out.. if he can sustain the same momentum bringing in funds sure.. good job but todate its way too early.
