Eskom load-shedding kicks in

Eskom announced that it has implemented Stage 1 load-shedding from 12:00 today until 22:00 to preserve emergency resources.

Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said the latest round of load-shedding was implemented due to high unplanned outages.

The new and improved version. We now have 8 stages!! Up from 4 stages!!
12 stages for next December?

Don't worry guys its just the 1912 electioneering kicking of sooner than later.

Does CT ever have load shedding? How was it in 2008?

Cape Town had plenty of load shedding in 2008! Steenbras pumped storage scheme only has enough capacity for 4-5 hours of load shedding, and is fine for Stage 1, but not for Stage 2, or for a prolonged period of time.

GG... you bunch of useless ****tards... can't even tender out to loot efficiently:thumbsdown:

At least they'll have the money in the bank that hasn't been spent on stocking up on overpriced coal, I mean, no one would be stupid enough to buy coal at inflated prices and pay for it up front and never check if its actually ever being delivered, so no need to fork out more bailouts right?... right? The cash will be there if we check the accounts right? Right?

Yes and it was pretty bad.. even the stretch back somewhere in 2013-15 (don't remember exactly when) was bad.. plenty of take out places grocery stores etc in that second stretch invested in generators..

Off topic, but that's exactly what Eskom and the Guptas did: https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...pta-enabler-at-eskom-alleges-treasury-report/

This prejudiced Eskom to the value of R2.1-billion, according to the report which also finds that: “Eskom acted in bad faith when the company, represented by Koko, refused to waiver the historical penalties levied against Optimum (OCM) which led to it going into business rescue, but reduced the said penalties through arbitration after Tegeta purchases the assets in Optimum.”

The report also finds that Koko and other Eskom executives planned and plotted the prepayment which enabled the Gupta’s path into coal well before it was brought before the Eskom board.

Coal has to go through significant tests before it can be used in Eskom’s supply plants because these are nerve points for the country and its economy. But the report finds that Koko subverted testing procedures in order to get the Gupta’s coal ambitions on track.

“Koko’s conduct in preventing Eskom’s employees from observing the re-sampling and retesting processes compromised the transparency of the said processes as none of the Eskom officials observed the sampling process.” And the report finds that Eskom officials doubled Tegeta’s contract duration from five to 10 years without consulting the senior general manager in the primary energy division, Vusi Mboweni.

Fcking liars. I got an sms an hour ago from the alarm system saying mains fail. Still off.

I'm sure the ANC apologists will be here soon enough to put a positive spin on this.
