Which results in no soccer viewing and advertisers up in arms because they paid million for the exposure. Bring it on I say, just need to install a bigger circuit breaker first.

Yes, Therooster (aka Kill-A-Whitey) troll, Eskum do use private contractors, as a work-around for BEE/AA.
They employ foreigners, some blacks from the US and a whites from the EU (mainly UK) as "contractors" in positions that are earmarked AA posts, while still paying a full compliment of incompetent staff.

They were in the news recently trying to deport the black US engineers that blew the whistle on this hiring of "contractors" scam.

Eskum through plain incompetence did not plan for the expansion of the grid, inline with the free power to all and sundry, and the stupid contracts selling power below cost to neighbouring comrades, and even supplying these comrades while load shedding South Africans.

In addition, the generating capacity went backwards due to lack of equipment maintenance , mismanagement of fuel supplies, and the classic "sabotage" at Koeberg (dumb fsks left a bolt in the generator).

I wonder how long it will take before the latest clone of Therooster will be zapped by the MOD's ?

Sorry but most people in SA has been doing this for years.

Disconnect the non-payers, collect their debts, prosecute the ones that are illegally connected. I know this will not happen so close to election time but whatever.

And..... start billing the 30% of users that are not paying a cent! These are not illegal connections, it's just Eskom and the metro's that lack the political will to bill these users. (Guess who they mostly vote for?) I am not speaking of the users making use of the indigent plans offered by the metro's.

Quite frankly in my opinion how can you offer for free when you can't produce enough for your paying customers? Power theft should start getting punished a lot more heavily. Also I don't understand why they can't put monitoring systems in their power node/substations that track usage? Even if there are illegal taps, it should show becuase the same folks aren't going to be one or two but normally a community.

I cannot argue with giving some users a free allocation (although it grates me), because at least that is controlled and the users are registered and monitored. But I have a huge issue with the unbilled freeloaders that are connected to the grid by the metro but never registered on their systems ...

You seem to be suggesting that South Africans are so foolish as to be switching on stoves and heaters because they think it's helping the power shortage. Frankly I think this is incredibly racist. You can't go blaming people that never had electricity for using it so recklessly now that they do have it. How are they supposed to afford all the latest greatest energy saving devices? You live in a shielded world, most likely a tower, with simple black-and-white on-and-off solutions, you need to realize that things have changed.

They were disadvantaged for so long, they have a right to fair use - who are you to tell them to shut it off so that Blatter and friends can have their little circus nicely lit up?
 
John when we switched of Eskom raised prices. Cause then they did not have the money to spend on upgrades. BAD Consumer!

This is such a myth. My business is in a township. I sell electricity to these poor people every single day. The free power they get is tiny and couldn't run more than their lights for a month. The freeloading is nothing close to what is being fantasized.

I'm saying if the will was there we could all try cut down on power and save ourselves the f-ups. But there's an massive attitude of "Screw that , I'm not going to cut down". If that's not spiting yourself then what is ?

i don't need to string light bulbs around my house i have the street lights outside my house on all day and night and i will prove it. i will go outside right now and take a photograph of the street lights on morning, noon and bloomin' well night time. they can start saving by switching the street lights off during the day. i think we can see we all have perfect eye sight.
unless we can call them the perfect lighthouse in the bay of stupidity.
