Esquire Geeko tablet range to be launched

Seen them on sale a few times,so I think the Esquire rep will be able to give us more specs. Would love to test one of these

Asgar Mahomed, MD of Esquire, said the company has invested “substantially” in research and development, to ensure that the Esquire-owned Geeko range comes with features and specifications required by the local market.

The seven-inch unit will come with the Android 2.3 operating system, while the 10-inch unit will boast the Android 4.0 Ice-cream sandwich operating system. “We have also ensured that the units come with the capacitive touch feature, which is what the market is demanding,” said Mahomed.

You don't need R&D to tell you that shipping a tablet in June 2012 with Android 2.3 is a fail. Also capacitive touch screens are the default, not what the market demands.

The main issue I have with all these cheapo tablets as how good the after-sales service will be. What sort of warranty does it have, who will back this warranty, and where do I get local support?

Based on pic looks like a Chinese import. Now as long as you accept that you basically buying the old school PC hardware model and warranty covers hardware .. hrm.. maybe it;s not too bad. But specs?

I want to see a competition with about 10x of these given away so we can get some rather extensive feedback from the community :D.

YES we want the 10inch because bigger is better in the tablet world (well who wants a small ice-cream sandwich lol) :p.

+1 to Esquire for expanding this, it will go nicely with their huge amount of products currently on offer :).

/needs to get a mybb friendly shop running and sell these :D

Nice job, Esquire. Would be great along with their current range of "self-made" products.

10" comes with HDMI, 3G modem and WiFi, larger screen and new OS - definitely better option. Price not bad at all.

lol id love to know what research and development went into producing this product

Yeah, lets not loose sight of the fact that this is a positive start for our local company. Keep on Esquire .

Are they just generic zte tablets with branding on them?

Similar to the vodafone one i bought? If so then the pricing is off the chart good.
