To all forumites : Please feel free to add more to this list, I'm always looking for an app that can make life easier. :)

Things that are NB to me :

Whatsapp :D obvious
Google maps (navigation)
Where's my droid. To find your cellphone if lost / stolen
Zedge - Very nice for backgrounds or sounds
Droid VNC server (root required) for typing on a keyboard :D

I have created a list on my blog over here ie: New to Android (What apps to look at)

But yeah I normally post my essential's over at the sticky Madman88 linked :)

That's a nice list on your blog E. A couple of other apps I'd add, but a good starter.

One of my essentials is Enjoy Sudoku! I use it for more than 2hrs per day :D

Thanx, there is a reason I dont mention games, as the list would be endless,

And the problem is I enjoy 3D FPS or World of Goo where the next person might enjoy Sudoku or Burn the Rope that I hate ;)

also some depend on device like I enjoy Dead Space on my Xperia but would not play it on my Desire HD, or I enjoy Starfront on my DHD but it kinda sucks on the Xperia Play.

Hmmm what I might do is mention things like MAME4droid or other good emu's

One category I need to add, is media players but seeing that I use MIUI's music player and dont watch movies on my phone, so I dont have much experience on what is best.

Maybe I can ask here for some apps that that people think I should try out/recommend.

I really like GMote

Control your computer's media player from your phone. Stream music to your phone

Turns your phone into a remote control for your computer, allowing you to start and control movies and music at a distance.

New 2.0
Stream music from your computer to phone!
Linux support
Control PowerPoint, image slide shows
Navigate and launch websites from phone
Acts as a WiFi touchpad/keyboard (improved!)
Bug fixes

So nice to lie in bed and be able to control my music/series from my phone :D

Thats what I use XBMC official remote app for :)

My media is on a NAS and my pc's+iPad all have XBMC loaded with a central MYSQL DB so my movies/music can follow me in my house.

In fact the best part of XBMC remote is if I click on a youtube url on say MyBB forum I have the option to play via my TV instead of the phone.

Hadn't seen this before, so decided I'd bump it :D
It's for a bit more than typing from a keyboard. My main purpose for it is to use whatsapp from a pc :D
Do you maybe know of a way to have the screen off but the phone not locked, cos that would be awesome...

Edit: and a link: http://opensourceexcedio.wordpress.com/2010/10/28/droid-vnc-server/

Go look at Airdroid brought to you thanx to this thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/397329-Android-useful-app-catalogue

I have seen airdroid, and it can do everything but whatsapp :p

Do you use screencast over adbWireless? Does it work any better than Droid VNC Server? Keeping the screen off and letting you use your phone would be awesome seeing as that's pretty much the most power hungry part.

I use it for app testing with USB Cable and the screen does turn off.

Edit: Problem is it wakes on use. Sorry never checked b4 :)
