Hi Everyone,

I have been checking out Euphoria and Switchtel. Euphoria seems more expensive per extension but IP phones can be rented or leased as part of the package. Both are 30 day notice periods.

I have seen positive reviews from users of Switchtel, can anyone out there using Euphoria comment?

I have had a look at both from a technical stand point. Also had a look at Vox's cloud offering, but wonder about their after sales support. All three appear to try fit a niche. For a fair comparison, you would need to summarize you specific requirement.

Have not tried Euphoria yet, have clients running on Switchtel, the service is great. Euphoria is offering ViBE (voice over broadband enhancement) which may be good for you if you require a lot of concurrent calls, i can give you details on ViBE if you want. I moderate on a site www.whichvoip.co.za which has a VoIP providers comparison guide and are about to launch a similar guide for hosted providers, so if you register you will get all the provider info as it happens.
I agree with a previous post, if you are more specific about your requirement i will gladly recommend providers that are suited.

Thanks your site looks great. Will check out your guides.

We had loads of issues with VOX, bad call quality and some days it would just not work.
We did our research on all the big players providing VoIP and Euphoria have been giving us great service and it just works....no issues and it has not been down one day since we started with them.

Cloud (Hosted) PBX

When comparing Cloud PBX providers pricing, be sure to review the full offering.

Firstly - The Call Billing Increment
It is imperative your billing increment is pure per second. If your being charged per minute or in 30 second increments you will always pay more than the per minute listed rate. It is called breakages and where telecom companies have been taking your money for no reason. A comparison of large call center's bill for 1 month when charged per second it came to +- R 80 000, the same calls charged at per minute amounted to R250 000. Yes for exactly the samecalls! For businesses, this day and age its pure per second or nothing at all. In other words I would more than happily pay a few cents more per minute if its billed per second over another provider billing in 30 second or 60 second increments. Lastly watch out for connection fees (even Skype has these connection fees) purely for connecting the call the provider will bill you a set amount.

Features outside the actual PBX
Most of the providers will have the standard pbx features such as IVR, time of day scheduling, voicemail to email, etc. Do they offer a realtime online telephone management system. Euphoria's TMS is included in the extension costs. They even have a prepaid option so you can top up your pbx service and airtime ad-hoc. It also has your call detail records and cost analyses reporting, a real-time monitor to check the status of all your extensions, all your invoice and transactional history, an extension manager so you can group extensions by department or branch. It allows for quick and easy analysis of your phone bill. Without a good TMS its very difficult if not impossible to manage your expenses/usage and PBX account. You need to take the opportunity cost of a TMS when comparing the extension costs if the alternate provider does not have one.

Yes I do work at Euphoria, and we are devoted to offering a world class cloud pbx system without any catches. Thanks Gerhard for the positive comments.

If you have any questions please direct them to [email protected] and we will answer them as honestly and swiftly as possible.

+1 for euphoria but only had it 2 weeks.

so far so good

Been using Switchtel for a couple weeks now and have not had any issues whatsoever. Setup was quick and easy and the service was personal. Number rental is cheaper but on net calls are not free, they are are 15c.

Yes, Switch Telecom has a TMS and also supports ViBE and PIN codes and well as the usual stuff (IVRs, Queueing, Voicemail, Forwarding, music-on-hold, time conditions, ring groups, DDI, presence, etc). There are no extra costs for any of the features with the exception of call recording. Service is either postpaid or prepaid (same rates), and one can choose between two call rate packages (60/30 on package 1, pure per second on package 2).

Just to provide clarity on a previous post, Switch Telecom does have a 15c/min on-network rate, however, that does not apply to calls between Hosted PBX extensions, only between different customers.

We have been using switchtel for a while now and their service is great. They even send you guides on how to set up your own astrix based PBX etc...
we used to use VOX and it never worked. went over to switch and havent had any probs

The most important aspect whe comparing call costs is to compare apples with apples. In other words if a company is charging per second, ensure you compare the per second rate with alternate suppliers. If you do not, you will be getting a very skewed perception of calling costs.
