You could maybe understand that he was left out initially, but with Cahill injured it's difficult to understand why he was still left out.
If the reason is dressing room harmony, well then its the biggest bit of bs by FA to date. Its a complete joke and everybody knows what its all about.

Team spirit is one of the key factors in doing well in a tournament. I can't imagine that it would be any good to have two guys in camp that hate each other. You might end up with a divided squad and that is a one recipe for disaster.

Fully agree. Carroll looked good in about two games. His sub appearance against Chelsea in the FA Cup final and in the league romp over Chelsea a few days later, otherwise he has been AWOL. Alarmingly, Carroll also seems to not realise he has a size advantage over most of the players he will be going up against and plays like a pansy in the box.

Well since we comparing stats in all competitions... I thought we were just looking at league stats.
Since we comparing stats from all competitions, Downing has 6 assists.

Last time I checked 6/6 = 1. So I honestly don't know where you just pulled out 4X as many assists from. Careful getting down from that high horse. Check your facts.

The only info I got for assists (and I checked previously) was that he scored 2, not 6.
Yes, he scored 2 goals. Assisted in another 6. You should decide what you want to talk about. Are we talking about assists or goals scored? You said Sturridge has 4x as many assists as Downing in all competitions, which is obviously not the case, according to the sources which I have linked you to, they both assisted the exact same amount.

Assisted 2, not scored 2*. The only info for assists is what I got from Wikipedia which said he assisted 2.

I'm really not sure why there is such a big discrepancy between ESPN's stats and wikipedia's stats. Just checked wikipedia now and it does say 2 assists. I could just edit wikipedia and give him a few extra assists...
