Never had to re-authenticate anything in the past 3 years - something wrong with your set-up

If there was something wrong with it, it would not work, the rest of the time. But yeah, this is Africa, and DSTV, so yeah. Pity the poor buggers who cannot get their device to re-authenticate, and have to spend half the next week, dealing with the help desk to sort out the F'up.

I have linked my dstv now to a premium payer/nasper employer cause they get discount. Anyway this makes me wonder what the standalone streaming will offer different from Premium

Anybody who thinks it's going to be priced close to Netflix is dreaming. I can tell you now this was not one of the options presented, not even remotely. Anybody who moans about the current value proposition of Dstv will not be considering this as it's essentially Dstv online.

Then DSTV still has a problem ...

Will probably be R100-R200 cheaper than the current price. Not expecting any miracles...

The other 99.9999999% of people who have authentication issues can't all have something wrong with their set-up.
I suggest the opposite is actually what is happening. You are either an insider and thus not subjected to the same BS the rest of us have to put up with, or, your setup is actually missing a critical security setting which the rest of us are suffering under.
While MC was still running their own community, we saw 40 - 50 reports per day. Nne of which were ever commented on by MC, or even given any attention.

If online streaming is only about 10, 20 or 30% cheaper than the decoder option, then I'm afraid that there will not be many people standing in the queue to get the new service.

To pay eg R700 per month for online, what with the buffering, authentication issues, etc is just not worth it if the full package satellite broadcast option is about R900. If they don't give a tariff reduction of at least 50%, they will not entice us to sign up.

I doubt we'll get custom bouquets to choose from (Supersport only package, I'm looking at you). However, I do believe they'll at least have a minimum of three subscription tiers.

If it were up to me, I'd come up with the following tiers:

"Lite", "Standard" and "Premium".

Lite - Covers only a few select channels from (EasyView, Access) and sports channels (SS 3&4)
Price range = R149 - R249

Standard - Covers more channels than Lite (Compact, Compact Plus) and more sports channels
(SS 3,4 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11)

Price range= R349 - R449

Premium - As the name implies, all channels are included from packages above (obviously)
Price range= R549 - R649

As for the Indian package, maybe have a separate tier and price it at R199.

I can't see them taking any other route with pricing if you factor in internet connectivity costs as well. But, I suppose time will tell, let's just hope they don't screw up the pricing because if they're smart they can regain market share in the streaming business

Basically a copy paste from an older post of mine, but thought I'd share it again :)

Why? For that price, I would rather go Netflix. It's cheaper and the quality is miles better.
depends on what series you into, most of the stuff that my family is into is not on netflix + its DSTV - i really doubt they will offer it a low price

I cancelled my DSTV 3 years ago, and would consider taking a subscription to DSTV Now, but not at those prices.
