Excel function help

Hi guys,

Can somebody please help me with the correct excel function.

I have a date in column A1 and then in column B1 I want excel to calculate the date 12 months from the date in column A1.

simplest that I can think of is '=DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1)+1,DAY(A1))'

Would have loved to be able to use it, but at the moment I am sitting in some back end town in the middle of nowhere on a VSAT connection. I get about 5 time outs trying to access Google.

Once deployed a new ETL process over a 56k line to a mine in the middle of the Sahel.
The only reliable connection was email.
I had a network technician with a interest in SQL run scripts I sent him and then copy the resultset and screenshots to me.
I should also mention English was his second language. Merde.:erm:

I had something very complicated I had to do in Mauritania and the only way I could do it was to email instructions to a very helpfull guy who had almost no idea what I was talking about and spoke french as a first language.
He then followed my instructions and emailed me back what happened.
It was a long week.
(To the guys who know what I'm talking about - don't even ask about the copy of their database I requested)

I keep getting an error wen trying to use this formula with the MONTH highlighted.

I copied and pasted your formula and it works.. is your A1 format really in date format?

Yes. Also tried to copy the formula exactly and it does not work.

But I restarted excel and did it again and now it works...
