Excessive Wall Height?

Why do you want to look into their property? A higher wall shouldnt affect you.

We will make it easy. Here you go, @ADzar:

I don't.
Having a natural view of the valley and foliage is one of the reasons we bought the property; after 25+ years there's suddenly a nasty 3m precast being put up, blocking it all down the entire side of the property, and it just seems ridiculous - I'm not going to fight with these guys - I'm just wanting to understand if I have any basis at all to try and challenge it, possibly having a slightly lower ugly precast instead... if not, so be it.

I just get tired of people simply doing their own selfish thing without any regard for others or following the required rules; how "society" has fallen - I've always tried to be reasonable, but when simple things start happening, like workmen on a Sunday at 6am building a 3m wall, I think I have a right to possibly question things?

No way in hell i'll allow it. Even after 5PM - My neighbour had okes still chainsawing a tree. Some nasty words and threats and they fckoff by themselves. We need to put our feet down against these savages.

Try and get hold of the building inspector for the area. I believe the height without plans is 1,8m but he can advise on that as well as any local by laws that may be affected.

Not sure where this applies but...

  • Solid boundary walls may not be any higher than 1.8 m on street boundaries, and no higher than 2,1 m on lateral boundaries.
  • Palisade-type fences may not be higher than 2.1 m on either street or lateral boundaries.
  • Fences may not be higher than 2,1 m on street boundaries
Also, has he got agreement with the direct neighbour given that it's a shared boundary he is building on?
Thx, I saw similar limitations. Going to chat to my neighbour later today re the shared boundary, as there are 2 properties in the panhandle driveway, so assume they both have to agree.

Thx, trying to find one for the area.
