I think Turtle hit the nail on the head nicely.
"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for
people we despise, we don't believe in it at all."
(Noam Chomsky)
This Chris Moerdyk dork, is clearly trying to paint all SA folks who've left, as racists and somehow wanting SA to fail - which means that their 'other' criticisms - like concerns over - gee, I dunno - being raped, robbed or murdered - are to be ignored.
Using this logic, I guess the ANC members now in government who left SA and stayed away while the liberation war was underway, should have stayed in SA..
I think what's happening is that the heat is rising now, from more and more SA people who have perhaps left, and are frankly f*cked off with the mess the country is becoming - and instead of the past, where SA folks left, and kept their mouths shut for fear of being called racists, now they're doing the right patriotic thing, and are starting to make their presence felt, from outside of SA.
If you don't actually love a country, you wouldn't bother trying to draw attention to it, when its clearly going off the rails.
I think - as this forum generally has shown - there are a LOT of people leaving, and the Media generally (whether from official orders, or just smelling the change of public opinion) are trying to draw an imaginary line between 'those racists outside of SA who left' and 'us here, who want a democratic SA'..
The truth is that there're a lot of non racist SA people, no longer in SA, spreading around the world - because the ANC can't guarantee public safety anymore, and seems not to care about anything except itself. That's the simple fact of the matter.
