Just 'cos expats complain, doesnt mean they are not happy where they are, their complaints show disgust where they are from.

Why not tell exiled freedom fighters 'just be happy where you are' - the entire SA freedom was orchestrated and implemented by expats and people in exile!

Everyone has the right to speak openly. If SA stops making silly policy top priority (Pledge, scorpians, etc) and America does the same (Iraq, Tax cuts, Oil Industry, etc) than people will have less to complain about when they leave their countries.

haha, i love this.
i leave south africa over a decade ago, sit quietly and pay my taxes and slowly build my life back, yet some clueless nincompoop who doesnt even know me feels he is qualified enough to judge me as a racist. because i got on an aeroplane long before he was allowed to move from pencil to pen in grade 2.

and that, friends, is why south africa is the way it is...it's always about race, isnt it? never about competence, personal preference, freedom of choice..always a black thing or a white thing, coz that is simple enough to understand.

That YES in combination with many other inherent factors as proveed by science. Still there is parts in Africa where that same conditions do not exist and they met the same problems and fate. So there those cannot be used as an excuse for the violence we see today.

Many of those freedom fighters were exiled meaning they were expelled from the country...you cannot compare being banished from your own country to leaving of your own free will

There are shades of grey here: some people will consider that they have been exiled by the inadequacies of our government. I believe thats a pointless area to debate though.

People who have left should decide what their goal is: a new home or a temporary safe haven. If its a new home then the concerns of your previous home should be in the past and stay there. It is easier said than done when there are still family and friends left behind though.

In the end I feel that the "trashing" of SA is pointless and a waste of time but I equally feel that getting huffy over other people "trashing" SA is a waste of time.

People who get so worked up over this sort of thing must lead incredibly sheltered lives.

Many people are very unhappy about leaving, but what type of parent would you be if you did not put your child safety first?? What about their future and education? Many would like to return to SA if some form of stability was returned to the country.

In the days pre 1994, there were many South Africans trashing SA, many in an attempt to expose the truth and force a change in SA. It worked. Crime, corruption, aids, poverty, BEE and many other things are now out of control in SA. So why are you now unhappy when it happens again?

Fact: There is a new generation of exiles out there and they won’t shut up until there is truly a new non-racist, non-corrupt government in place.

Most of those freedom fighters left of their own free will. They were recruited by the ANC for "military training" outside the borders of SA.

So many young South Africans think the grass is greener on the other side, when its not always the case. The world has problems all over, running away from SA is just a short term solution for many.
