Exploding iPhone saga continues

A French teenager's claim that an Apple iPhone shattered in his face is a first involving the device but similar incidents have occurred with the iPod according to a US television station.

I have both devices and have never had a problem, and my ipod is permanently in my car. Don't know, maybe its a battery or something, maybe he was having a hot cyber chat session on his phone, just a bit too hot, or maybe he wants a new 3GS

The exploding/expanding sony battery failure issue has cropped up a number of times for a number of devices.
The incidence of catastrophic failure appears to be so low as to be insignificant unlike the "Dell laptop infernos" of a couple of years ago.
This isn't news.
