I have a ZyXEL IAD P2602 on an ADSL line, but the wifi doesn't quite reach far enough. I also have a Linksys WAP54G access point - is it possible to use it to extend the network to the point where I need access? In other words, the client laptops will connect using wifi to the Linksys, which is in turn connected to the ZyXEL, also on wifi.

If you find out, let me know. I started a similar thread this weekend, look for it in this forum section.

AFAIK, and i could stand to be corrected, access points cant extend your wifi coverage without being connected by cable to your adsl modem ( unless you can set ur wifi modem in client mode and connect wirelessly to the access point ).

Similarly what you can do is set your AP into "repeater" mode. This will basically repaet the signal coming from your adsl modem. Just know that in repaeter mode, your throughput will be halved.

You can also use WDS if your AP supports it, otherwise just buy cat5 cable and hook the AP to your ZyXEL IAD P2602

I have the AP wired up to my adsl router/switch, so I'll probably need a switch and AP on the other side as well? Then use bridge mode?

So basically the AP is connected to the the adsl router and still doesn't give enough coverage?

Well you have three options really if that is the case:
1. Run CAT5 cable to your pc
2. Buy an external antenna ( with more gain ) for your AP
3. Buy another AP which can support either WDS or repeater mode
