The result is the same, Max won. The uproar is because Max won, same as last year...
Hardly.
Even die hard Max fans can see the value of Max winning fair and square. Unlapping the few cars in front of him and then immediately restarting the race was a bridge too far for most with artistic license.

Should've been a red flag simply because there was recovery machinery on the track. Even more absurd was allowing the lapped cars to overtake right past the tractor. One of the Williams was damn close to hitting it.
Careful, you'll be called a Max hater next LMAO.

There are 6 races and 1 sprint left which means there's a maximum of 164 points still up for grabs. Charles is 116 points behind meaning Max needs 49 points to secure the championship, so six 6th places will be sufficient to seal no2 for the kid. (ignoring any possible points he could get from the sprint).

And he always scores huge in the sprints

I'd wager its a done deal by CoTA

He can win it at the next event
SkyF1 said the same, but as Speedster stated:
6x 25 win points = 150
6x fastest lap = 6
1x sprint win = 8
Total = 164

So even if Max wins Singapore with fastest lap and Charles DNF's, he would be 142 points in the lead, with 138 left to play for.....

Oh wait, haha, he could win it in Singapore. Will leave this here anyways...

Perhaps you can point to a rule/prior precedent either allowing for or mandating this. In my many years of watching F1 I can't recall a single case where a race was red flagged due to a mechanical.

Pretty sure if an engine grenaded and dumped oil all over the racing line there would be a red flag

There have been 112 red flags, almost all crash or weather related.

In 1998, the French GP was red flagged when Jos Verstappen stalled at the start - that's about as close to mechanical as it gets.

In 2002, Michael Schumacher won the championship with six races to go, so Max can't better that this year.
No, but very likely that he's going to break this record
