So could a wind tunnel problem – something that may only have come to light in recent weeks – be the smoking gun behind its troubles?

Speaking about the balance problems that are hurting the car, Horner said: “It's disconnected front and rear. We can see that.

“Our wind tunnel doesn't say that, but the track says that. So it's getting on top of that, because obviously when you have that, it means you can't trust your tools. Then you have to go back to track data and previous experience.”

18 best drivers in the world have done well for themselves not sure what Lando and Lewis are doing though.

"... An Aston Martin source told BBC Sport that Newey has made a long-term commitment to the team, said to be a five-year contract worth up to a possible £30m a year, including bonuses and add-ons. The deal will be announced at a news conference organised by Aston Martin at their F1 base at Silverstone on Tuesday. ...

Newey will be the design lead for a team who have invested heavily in engineering talent in recent years.

Former Mercedes engine chief Andy Cowell joins as chief executive officer on 1 October.

Aston Martin have signed former Ferrari chassis technical director Enrico Cardile, who will start work in his role as chief technical officer at an unspecified point in 2025. The golden question: Will they be able to design a 2026 car which is so far ahead of the field that it can get Stroll Jnr to consistent podiums so that everyone can stop asking (justifiably) WTF he's still doing in F1?

"Really want people to appreciate how good Formula 1 is right now. For the first time in Formula 1 history, we have FOUR different constructors with at least 3 wins AND 2 poles in a season. 2024 is a historic season. 🤯"

Yes, Newie will include an AI to drive it and all Stroll has to do is sit in the car and keep his hands in his pockets. ;)

Newey is brilliant but I doubt even he knows how to design "talent".

Interesting how the drop in Redbull performance since has almost entirely only affected Max, especially since the break.

Perez hasn't lost remotely the sort of time Max has on the rest of the field. Hell, Max has even lost ground to Perez compared to earlier in the season at this point.

Quite peculiar.
