I just want em to race, as it should be.

It would be stupid.

McLaren lost to Raikkonen in 2007 because of this. They nearly chucked 1999 because of this. Mercedes ended up with a civil war on their hands because of this.

It is true that Lando is proving that a fast car still needs a driver with their head in the right place because he has done himself no favours, but if you have a driver in position to push for a championship then you do what you can to get them there. And if that means team orders, then so be it.

That's unfortunately the only way Lando would ever get a championship as Piastri will probably school him next year. A fast car is of no use without the best driver, this is a lesson Lando had now learned the hard way.

Lando is fast, he just needs to get his head right. It is clear that he is sensitive to outside pressures/opinions; the harmless comment from Lewis that triggered him, his first lap woes being pointed out to him also struck a nerve. This is where Piastri has the edge at the moment, he seems to be mentally stronger, but if Lando works on his mindset and ignores the outside noise that appears to bother him, he'll be okay because the speed is there.

Working with a sports psychologist might do him some good.

So the same people that always complained about Checo having to backdown due to RB team orders. now want team orders?
This thread is the best comic relief on MBB.

Not sure who you are trying to pick an argument with, but I am not one of these people and never have been. Team orders and having a clear lead driver has always made sense to me in a competitive team. There is a reason why Ferrari and Red Bull had relative harmonious periods of success in comparison to the turmoil and lost championships Mercedes, Williams and McLaren experienced in the past.

Maybe, also maybe that's just who he is. Look at that wet race where he could've gotten his first win, I liked him up until that point. That made it quite clear that he cracks under pressure. He can't handle it at all, and this is also why Piastri will soon school him.

I acknowledged that he cannot handle pressure at the moment, but to a degree this is something that can be worked on. Speed cannot be taught, Lando has this.

And another thing to think about; Oscar isn't in position to push for a potential championship, so he is driving without any pressure. We don't know how he would react if the roles were reversed.

Stroll is the second youngest driver to score a podium and the youngest to do it in a rookie season.
If it wasn't for Lance, would we have Aston Martin in F1? Spending millions/billions. They have been in F1 just a few years and there was already glimpses producing completive cars. We have seen many big names in the past like Toyota struggle.
Lance's last two teammates was multiple word champions Alonso and Vettel.
So yes I do not rate him high but maybe not that bad.
Aston Martin get way more media coverage and brings way more interest to F1 than teams like Stake, Alphine, RedBull lite, Haas and even probably Williams.
So yes. love or hate him. The money his dad spend to get into F1 just because of him, Lance probably deserves his seat. Not because of talent only.

I'm not entirely convinced about Piastri being so 'dominant' so far as he's been benefiting from not being a team player, which Lando was expected to be. He's been the better driver over the course of the championship, the points table shows this.

This past race, the move by Piastri was great yes, but then, Lando has shown himself to capable to race his opposition, alot of what gave Piastri that opportunity was that Lando didn't expect such a daring, risky move by his own teammate, especially after past drama where had to play good teammate himself to give Oscar a win, in the name of being a good teammate, 'look at the big picture' stuff.

Reckon we could well see the gloves come off Lando now too.

And no, no judgement of Piastri, good to see the ruthlessness, he's a real racecar driver, rookie has chops, but I can also see why, how, it would've taken Lando by surprise, been unexpected, Piastri taking advantage of that.

As for Mclaren, team management, they need get their heads out their asses. Its too many points lost due to ineptitude on their part now this championship.
